Credit Expert

Hello,
I have been going through my accounts on ways to save money and have just realised I am paying £7.99 a month for my credit report with Credit Expert. I have not really used the service so obviously want to cancel it. This is the BIG problem. The payment does not come out as a Direct Debit(which you can cancel quite easily) but as a monthly payment from my bank.
I have spent too many half hour lunch breaks on the phone being kept waiting, getting cut off etc. over the past two weeks trying to get through to them as I can not log on to their website with my user details.
Can I cancel through my bank? Surely I can, can't I ?

From saynoto0870 there are alternative numbers so at least you don't have to pay 0870 charges:
Credit Expert 08444810800 01159356662 08005610083 for cancellations.0 -
I started a thread complaining about them which many others complained too but the mods deleted it for no reason. It broke no rules so I can only assume they have a vested interest in the company.0

The payment does not come out as a Direct Debit(which you can cancel quite easily) but as a monthly payment from my bank.
If it is not a Direct Debit, then is it a Standing Order?
If it is a Standing Order, instruct your bank to stop paying it.
If it is not SO or DD, then surely a phone call to your bank is in order to find out what it is.
You haven't mentioned credit card, but if you pay then via CC you need to get Credit Expert to cancel it. Use info in above posts.0 -
I think the OP means it's a monthly payment from her bank CARDOne important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0

The number to cancel is 0800 561 0083. Experian owns Credit Expert.
I've experienced the same thing. They take money from your debit card (you'll have given the details when you registered).
My wife has had the same problem. She emailed them three times explicitly stating that they were not authorised to take any money. They continued to take money. It has taken months to track down this number, which isn't listed on the website. When we called Experian on this 0800 number they said that the only way to cancel the subscription is to call this 0800 number which they confirmed isn't on their website.
So, the process: sign up for free trial, give debit card details, Experian takes money, you don't want service any more, try to cancel via website, can't, try to cancel via email, can't, try to get number, can't, lose money, lose more money, and so on. Personally I think this is stealing.
Read the post above, wish I'd found it sooner.0 -
I cancelled my Credit Expert a few weeks ago by making one phone call to the Customer Services number on the web site. As I recall, I was transferred to cancellations internally. There are links to phone numbers on just about every page on our website. I've just called the freephone number and got through in 5 seconds. As others have said, it's 0800 561 0083. You agree to the Ts and Cs when you sign up to the offer and you give continuous authority for monthly card payments while you remain a member. Active members get regular text/email alerts about their credit report so it's hardly a service you can join and forget about.

What a wonderfully professional response from the company representative. One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0
