  • I wouldn't be without it, I use it ALL the time, and it's strange how for such a little book that EVERYTHING I ever want is in there! I think it's a tardis book!

Co-op have it too for about £1. I only got my first copy recently, having never heard of it before joining this forum! I can't believe how many recipes they pack into the tiny little book, it's fantastic.

Thanks for reminding me. I too first heard about it here when I first joined. The small person was keen for me to make sticky blobs- they're a great way to use up odds and ends of jam:D and taste rather yummy too.

My mum bought me one a few years ago and it's my most used cook book. Its brill. It tells you simple things like butter icing, cheese sauces, pastry etc as well as other recipes like cakes pies etc.

I would be lost without this little book as i refer to it so often

I have an old version and a new version, bought the new one then mum gave me an old one someone had given her. The recipes work well with value flour too ;).

  • I too have the old version given to me in 1972 by my mum when I got married. When I moved house I couldn't find it so bought a copy of the new book. Over the years I have used this recipe book more than any other.

    It is a LITTLE GEM.
  • Definitely my most used book too. Just simple things like the right quantities for batter, basic sponge and crumble mix. Things which should stay in my head but don't.

My nephew loves making the chocolate sponge wiith evaporated milk in it. We use a whole bar of choc in the middle rather than the choc icing - yummo!!!

I had an old one from the 50's that belonged to my mother-in-law but it started to get a bit tatty so I bought a new one from the Co-op a few years ago. My SIL now has the old one.

I've got many cookery books but my Bero book gets used the most for baking.

    Its a fab little book.

I made from it recently a light fruit cake for FIL as it one of his fav cakes so i made it as a treat. i've never made one before so no idea how it was ment to taste, but aparently it was one of the nicest ones he had ever eaten. Every one loved it. ANd it was so simple and easy. i always thought fruit cakes even light ones were tricky but the bero book is a really user friendly publication.
