Smoke outside, I see many people smoke outside and it's their own house, they don't want to ruin the decoration.

I would say that if you smoke inside be prepared to paint the place including ceilings before you leave as that's where the problem lies. The staining of paint is amazing. I don't smoke but my ex did and the difference between when he was in the house and when I lived in a house without him is staggering.

Smoking outside if you live with someone else is fine but I can't see anyone going outside every time if they live on their own. I think that's a tad unreasonable.

Also, if there are carpets and curtains, they will need steam cleaning as they hold the smell.
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.

Actually, everything holds the smell. Mirrors, tiles, window glass, worktops, even the white around internal UPVC windows.
    Carpets, curtains, furniture.

Smokers think it's just soft stuff but it's not. I used to help in a charity shop and sometimes we'd get paintings in and we always cleaned the glass - a wipe over with a damp cloth and the cloth would be covered in a brown slime which wasn't obvious just from looking.

Some people don't mind renting out a property to smokers ... so why don't people just stick with them? Why make problems before you've even moved in?

Are you saying that no smokers are intelligent enough to decide for themselves whether they should smoke or not, so you have to decide for them?

Smokers are obviously not intelligent enough to decide for themselves. If someone said give me six quid and i'll give you some sticks that you set fire to and then you inhale the toxic and carcinogenic smoke to damage your health what would you do?

An intelligent person would say no. An incredibly thick person would say yes.

    I rest my case.

I'm not deciding anything for smokers, just stating the bleedin' obvious in terms of health advice.

Personally I would automatically expect smoking to be prohibited in a rental house.
Me too, I've been looking at rented places recently, they all say 'no smoking, no pets'.

which are both blanket prohibitions and are therefore unfair contract terms and will be overturned should a case end up in court - see the OFT guidance on contract terms

So you only ever spend any money on things that are good for your health? Must be very dull.

Give up smoking. It's a disgusting, filthy addiction that makes you smell, sick and die younger.

    It cures kippers
