I'm aware that this is standard practice, and whilst half of me thinks it's maybe a sensible way of persuading people to help others and reducing their own medical fees, the other half of me can't help but think it's unethical?
Essentially they were offerring to "buy" your eggs, by offsetting an amount against your sister's treatment fees. I wonder how they justify this, when it's illegal to "sell" an organ for transplant or to be paid for acting as a surrogate (apart from reasonable expenses)..?0 -

Not sure to be honest...once it was mentioned to me I told them I wasnt interested in donating to other couples and so they didnt really explain the "in's and out's" of it . I do see the point you are making though. The loopy one has gone :j0 -

I just think it raises an interesting ethical question. And I wonder how the powers-that-be would justify permitting effectively paying for eggs, but not for organs?0 -
I wouldnt donate my womb just isnt for me. I think mine is far too stretched after carrying two sets of multiples. Plus apparently it is not the standard shape.
Once upon a time I would have considered surrogacy, but right now is not the right time. My children are far too young for me to manage being pregnant. Plus i suffered with severe pre eclampsia both times don`t think my body would cope.
I would egg donate I think.. not really looked it up.mum to; Two Boys (Non id twins)Two Girls (Id twins)0 -
I really don't see this being available for a long long long time, if at all. They are only experimenting on animals and the one human that they tried it didn't last. From what the article is saying, the best wombs are from those that have passed on. However, the person receiving the womb would still have to go through IVF and have to have a C-section. That's alot of costs on the NHS.
To me, there is just no proof that it will actually be successful.0 -
