My tuppence worth on the spreadsheet

the creators/editors have put an enormous amount of effort into it this weekend, effectively to formalise in one easy schedule all the various postings that were floating around.

That “ENORMOUS EFFORT” has consisted of two parts

    1. the formatting or presentation of the spreadsheet; and
    2. the inputting and updating of data

Part (1) should not require to be done again.

However re (2) I wonder if the spreadsheet has now become a monster in terms of the amount of updating it will require?

I suggest it may be that T & A perhaps do not change many prices over the weekend, hence in the life to date of the spreadsheet prices have been fairly static.

however what will happen on weekdays, when Tesco update or Asda update prices.? And we also know that Tesco seem to update on a very frequent and random basis, often apparently reacting to Asda's prices: other posters have spoken of the frequent “yellow” SELs being applied in Tesco stores.

I am not an IT specialist but I raise the question for consideration by the creators/editors as to whether the spreadsheet will perhaps become overly onerous in terms of the updating required? Or to look at it another way can it be kept up to date?

I do appreciate the creator(s) helpfulness in setting up the spreadsheet to assist others, but i wonder if keeping it up to date will become too time consuming?

I think we can all agree Gold Blend is better than ordinary Nescafe.

    That's why it costs more.

    :A

I really don't mind when this promo finishes, as I can get my life back.

My OH says I'm obsessed, which is very true.

So long as Tesco give me the vouchers for shops entered into their checker when the promo was on, then I don't mind as they haven't then conned me into going to their store on a false pretence.

As for the amount spent, I have spent about £200 since it started, and very little elsewhere, instead of around £100 a week in Sainsbury.

In the last 2 weeks, I have been to Tesco most days, using numerous
vouchers, some over the £20 cap most under (certainly since 25th), and have handed Tesco less than £5 in cash since those first shops, so I reckon profits of around the £300 mark (maybe more, I actually have lost track)

Today the 3 of us (family members in tow) got 3x £20 shops and paid 2p, 17p, and 19p respectively, and expect 3x DTD vouchers for £20 on each (or nearly if not capped).

Tomorrow I spend my £91 and get all the booze that Tesco have on
offer as all their deals change after tomorrow (and most are not available in Asda so I wil lstill get £20 DTD from that £91)

If they kill the deal tomorrow, I'm still due 2x vouchers from Friday (think both are about £20), plus the 3 from today, plus MAYBE the one from tomorrow, so at worst 5x £20 worthg of shopping which would be used on BOGOF offers etc (if the DTD is about to be over), so another £100 profit to add.

It's the best scheme I've ever saved money on (even better than Quidco,
another hidden gem that I recommend to my friends), I love it. And what a great weekend overall, Oldham win for first time in 12 games, and Notts County (who we beat) sack red scum Paul Ince (he will always be Man United scum in my eyes).

aaah, off to finish the rest of my Banrock red (1/2 bottle to go). After Eight anyone?

Bet he hasn't got 6 fingers on each hand though eh?

    Can lurkers see the SS?
Can people who are new to the site see it?
Can it be made sort of semi private?
My view is that Tesco know exactly what they are doing and what we are doing and we are not making a dent in their profits, if we were this promo would be stopped no matter what goes on on this or any other forum.
I am convinced that we are small fry compared to the people who are using this promo as it is supposed to be used.
I am happy to have been part of it, and will continue as long as Tesco continue to give us the offer.

Agree. I would like to be more regular, but can only come on here when I can. Difficult one this, and same dilemma with other obsessions - Bootsers were forever grappling with whether or not to post glitches openly. In the end, it seems incredulous that a multibillion pound company cannot track its prices against its competitors. It is a promotion, not a policy. Like the doubleup Clubcard promotion, it will run for a little while for publicity and then Mr T will move on, and we will too. It is a loss leader, get the footfall and hopefully gain some loyalty.

An awkward position to put editors in - and how to define someone who has "contributed?" It is also goes against the spirit of MSE.

Many, many thanks to the editors and those who hunt out deals and for sharing. Let's keep making hay....

Hi new to all this and have had my first £20 voucher last week.

However I order online and this week will do my normal one and then a special one the following day for DTDs - which saves even with the £3 delivery.

But would feel guilty doing it much and there is this proviso on the terms list:
Where we suspect that any false or fraudulent claim or one abusing the spirit of the Price Check scheme is being made, we reserve the right to refuse to issue or redeem a Price Check Voucher.

Isn't that what everyone is doing??

Re SPREADSHEET?? Not even seen it!

I have been reading this thread from the beginning. I have helped a few people when DTD first started, albeit in a small way. I have only recently started to post on here. The spreadsheet is a real help for me. I use it as a base start but check mysupermarket/T's and Asda sites too. I make lists, redo lists etc...I don't want to use the pity me card, but most days I'm exhausted. I have an autsitic adult daughter who takes up a LOT of my time and energy. I would love to be more active on here and post deals...the only one I came up with today was for cottage cheese!!

I haven't always been able to get the DTD items I wanted, but that's fine...most times there's been just enough for what I wanted. I haven't bought loads of lamb or shampoo (no shampoo at all and only one rack of lamb although I've seen plenty). I got 5 packs of dog food but that's the most of anything.

I think T's will pull this promotion when THEY are ready to do so. The DTD was capped after so many people went over the £100 limit. If that had been used sensibly by people, would they have capped to £20?

How do you measure a person's contribution to the thread or the spreadsheet? What one person contributes one month, another person does another month. Will it become a competition as to how much someone contributes? Yes there are people out there who will always take the easier option, but the ethos of MSE for me, is to share. It makes me feel uncomfortable (and excluded) when people talk of "rewarding" the contributors as perceived by them, and excluding many like me (who on the surface may not appear to be doing very much)...because of the perception that we/they are "lazy" and not "working hard enough" to get the DTD reward.

Right i've read this thread, but as quick as i read it, another page pops up....lol

Tomorrow i'm going to do my 1st dtd, could someone please just tell me if this works for me.

    1 - tetley tea bags, 160s - T £3.88 A £2.00 diff £1.88 double £2.76
    2 - lynx shower gel - T £2.37 A £1.00 diff £1.37 double £2.74

So i go and buy the 2 above products, do i need to buy anything else to bump up my receipt, i then come home and input my receipt details, and i'm then sent a voucher via e-mail for £5.50

I can then use this voucher against more dtd products, i don't want to abuse the system, but just want to get some cash back on products that i want/use.

When i take my £5.50 voucher in can i use it against any amount of cash products ie, my next shopping bill is £10 so i then pay £4.50

    Thanks a lot

and wow you lot can chat and chat about this ......lol

Just a small point that DTD on the tetley is £3.76 so you should get a voucher for £6.50 :j

Tesco must already know which are their "loss makings" but still leave them unchanged. Perhaps there is a reason for this. However, not training their SAs to sign a redeemed receipt is total incompetance. What on earth is going on? Why am I telling employees how to submit a receipt? Why am I telling employees how to get their £20 back per receipt? Keeping their own employees in the dark is surely all we need to know to know that this promotion is a disaster. And we are hastening the demise of it by making all the legwork redundant.
