If you see someone without a smile give them one of yours,
It wont cost you anything!

agree with you wholeheartedly
plus the money is tied to tesco, and can't be used on fuel. Also without VERY careful maths you have to go a bit over your voucher to get it cashed, and while you're in there you'll probably 'pick up a few bits...' Also lots of people will use the DTD voucher for treats rather than usual spends, forgetting that their initial outlay to get this free food was a basket/trolley full of already overinflated goods. Additionally this enforces the more expensive brands in people's (and their children's) minds so that once the deal is over we'll still reach for those...
I personally think Tesco is still the big winner here by a long chalk.
I totally agree, my initial layout was £100 over four shops...gave me four vouchers which I have be using and get DTD...been going over about £3 each shop too! So in total spent £130...would have spent £160 if I had gone direct to Asda...and have £75 worth of vouchers to use....so in theory I have about £110 worth of free food so far! But I have been really careful avoiding treats and thinking stock up on things I likely to need (beans, toothpaste, dettol, coke...)
I'd buy more frozen food but the freezer is full!!! tempted to buy another small freezer but then all the savings I made would go out the windoW!0 -

I dont know whether to use the manned tills and hope for the best, use them gradually through an on-line shop (not done an online food shop before, and am hoping paying the delivery driver with a voucher would be ok?) or checking first in-store with customer services before doing a large shop and going to a till?
has anyone any experience spending the £100 vouchers, without being too much 'on the radar'?
thanks!
(sorry, ive moved this from the prices-only thread)
Hi
I used my £58 voucher this week as I had to do my normal shop. SA said that was a big amount, she has never seen a voucher like this one before (!) and I told her calmly that I got a DTD voucher through pricecheck promotion before the 25th of March (when all DTD vouchers were capped) then she called a supervisor who took it with my receipt to CS. I was prepared for anything, thought I was going to pay by card in the end but she came back and took me to another till to authorise it!
So go ahead, use your voucher and keep telling them that T&C re DTD voucher changed AFTER Fri 25th of March and you got your vouchers before that date, you could tell them to check with HO as well.0 -

well I had a voucher for £83.62 from the pre cap days too and used it recently as part payment for an ipod touch for my daughters birthday and even got a free £15 i tunes voucher for buying the ipod so I couldnt have been happier as the voucher was from a previous shop which I had also used a voucher to pay with!

I totally agree - when you get your DTD voucher, you have to remember the 'REAL' value of your goods is no more than it would have cost you in Asda, as that is where it would have been cheaper - IYSWIM. Then you have to remember Asda are still making a good profit even if selling half the price of Tesco. Me personally, i gave up shopping at T's when they stopped taking coupons - but, whaddya know, over the past couple of weeks they've got me back...however many DTD vouchers they have given me, they still had my original money, the DTD vouchers will still be spent there, and also whatever my shopping goes over the voucher value and any other stuff i may get while i am there - newspapers, magazines, milk, bread, veg - staples i normally buy elsewhere. Clever eh!0 -
I'd love to be part of a DTD 'flashmob'. We could all turn up at a big Tesco and all go through all the tills with a voucher at the same time. Would be a great giggle ... if a headache for the staff! :rotfl:
I've always wanted to do one of these and sing! I could write us a song!
Leave it with me!
PS Any sexy tenors out there?Hope is not a strategy.0 -
I really hope that this IS a well calculated move by Tesco and therefore carries on for a good while yet.
I'm being very careful choosing things that we actually need...I'm not buying anything that I wouldn't buy a version of usually and so this is potentially a really good saver for me.
Long may it continue! If my words are missing letters then please excuse me....my keyboard is a tad dodgy!!0 -
any way of finding out the new asda deals for monday? i tried to book a slot for HD on tuesday and thursday and asda still shows the same(ish) stuff!
