Tesco/Asda Pricechecker finds here (Thread 2)

Thought I'd take the time to answer some common (recent) questions;
Big vouchers from last week - are they still OK to use. Well short answer Yes. Long answer, some SA's think the £20 cap applies - it doesn't so explain politely that only came in from 25th and this is from before, and ask them to call over the Supervisor who will, through gritted teeth no doubt, accept it.
How best to pay and use of clubcards - there are various limits (10 per month, 1 per day, £100 per month). To best 'work' the system use a mixture of payment methods and clubcards (you can also mix in multiple computers, IP addresses and e-mail addresses, although I doubt the need). You can get a clubcard leaflet in any store, just tear it off the leaflet and use it (or even them) in rotation with your real one. Use the same clubcard when recycling receipts then you can clearly track your limit on that card and method of payment.
What is a calendar month - well basically it runs out on 31st March so as far as I am concerned the whole limit thing starts again on Friday (expect Tesco to be busy accepting large vouchers, me included £91 one to spend).
Recycling of receipts - NOT the fraud activity of re-printing and re-using vouchers (don't even ask how this works as the post will be removed); but instead the using a voucher to pay for the next shopping on a repeated rotating basis; perfectly acceptable up to the limit of 10 per month and £100 in total, hence the use of multiple clubcards and payment methods.
Which site do I need to check my prices on;
a) Mysupermarket to first find the product and look at the supposed comparables (not foolproof so only use to find a particular item and what it looks like etc)
b) use Asda.com to verify their current price and offers (again not 100% perfect as Tesco use specific postcodes to check Asda's prices in case they vary)
c) check to see if on Tesco site then you can see what you think it should be when you buy it (again not foolproof as stores aren't quick to updates SEL's)
d) check the price on the shelf and ONLY buy the exact right item and in the right quantity (it is usual to NOT take the BOGOF second item)
Finally when comparing the items on the 2 store sites watch for wording - the simple neglect of the word 'firming' has meant a N/F or a N/A in the price checker on one item - the items must be the same to be compared, do NOT rely on the picture, the words are more important.
N/A and N/F both mean the same (effectively) - No Pricecheck, No DTD.

Brilliant post - is there anyway this can be popped in the OP to help new people - we could build up a list of FAQs?0 -
Brilliant post - is there anyway this can be popped in the OP to help new people - we could build up a list of FAQs?
Would be a good idea. I suggested this a few pages (well quite a few actually - doesn't this thread move fast)
Here was my answer then
It would be great if the OP could add a list of popular asked questions.
Can I use my coupon if my coupon has the time in 12hr format instead of 24hr format?
Yes. Of course. But some of the less intelligent cashiers/supervisors have had problems realising this, even after having it pointed out. Might be an idea to go whilst the Customer Service Desk and Head Office are open.
My receipt has an extra 0 or minus a 0 in the numbers, is this right?
Yes. It appears that after a software update some store receipts will have a random 0 or minus a 0. This is usually on the store number. The cashier should really only be interested in the date and time along with the last 3 sets of numbers. The first set only refers to the stores IDAsk me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies0 -

I till haven't had a reply from the e-mail I sent on the 20th:(, besides the automated one. I then e-mailed again on the 28th stating I still have not recieved a satisfactory reply, and was sent a reply on the 29th saying someone from the Executive Response team will be in contact shortly.0
