i, for one, have not just been buying junk. The nearest to junk is the enigmas - something that will sit in my freezer for weeks and weeks. I have stocked up on beans, washing liquid and softener, coffee, wine, cheese, toothpaste, shampoo and conditioner etc.

But even if i was filling a chest freezer with wedges and vienettas then that is entirely my prerogative as an adult that can make choices and decisions over my purchases.

I think some are confusing one of the biggest companies in the country - one that takes vast amounts of money on an hourly basis and uses its buying power to manipulate suppliers, for a benevolent charity or co-operative.

If i can get some cheap/free stuff out of tesco then i blooming well will. And if i have to, normally, take advantage of both asda, tesco, aldi and morrisons to reduce my grocery expenditure by even 10%, and have the time to do it, then i will.

My experience of tesco ramping up prices to cover their costs of bogof etc, or doubling prices only to 'half price' them at a later date, is enough justification to turn the tables on them for a change.

Thank you to everybody here for posting up your finds. It is very much appreciated.

    hear hear good post

Just had a voucher not accepted!

After speaking to 4(!!) members of staff and being kept waiting 15 minutes, I was told they wouldn't accept it because of the 12/24 hour clock numbers not matching. Of course the more senior member of staff left it to the junior to pass on the good news. Stayed calm and asked her to check with CS by phone in the morning because her manager was wrong (and I didn't like the implication that the voucher wasn't legit - it is!). Left my shopping and kept the voucher & receipt.

Not impressed. Not least because I told 2 members of staff when I found that the icecream in the freezer had melted and they did nothing about it!
There's a dose of food poisoning brewing at that branch. Ugh!

Tesco - Every little (bit of poor customer service) helps (convince me I'd rather shop in ASDA).
!!!!!! - how long has the 12hr/24hr problem been known by Tesco - 2 weeks now? Every voucher issued after 12.59pm shows the wrong time.

So you get called a criminal forger, and they can't read their own bloody instructions.

Make sure when you call CS tomorrow that you let them know how insulted and embarrassed you were and what are they going to do about it. (£20 compensation voucher has been mentioned)

Get a name and reference number so that store can call CS and prove the voucher to be genuine. Then wait for them to apologise and don't damn well move until they do.

NB there are now 3 sets of numbers on the new vouchers that don't match; how will your store handle that, throw you in the recycle bin and lock the lid?
I didn't do it, nobody saw me do it, you can't prove a thing! ;)

Mine from Friday is still being processed and I am getting a tad annoyed. Surely it doesn't take them that long to do it eh?

Mine from Sunday morning is still being processed and it's only for about £5.

SEARCH - have you checked you 'junk mail'? Only ask as i was waiting 4 days for my 5th voucher to turn up - all the others came overnight. Just before I phoned CS I looked in the junk folder - there it was, and had been sitting there for 3 days! Don't know how/ why it happened, but might be worth checking.

    Hiya,

Yeah, I've tried that, thanks. Plus trying my details again and again online, no joy. First I lost my first receipt on Friday, and now the one i did enter hasn't come back with anything. I'm not doing very well!

how old are you for asking such things? FYI there isnt even a pizza express near me, if i got one i would of given it to someone else anyway which i always do if i find an offer like that..

i understand that both companies will have items cheaper than the other and thats just how it always will be. to go to the effort to base a whole shopping list on whats cheaper is ridiculous, i shop at tescos because its convinient. if waitrose or another more expensive place was closer id probably shop there. i dont see how my post indicated my unhappiness with either company? but yeh i still feel the same, i think its wrong what some of you are doing with basing your shopping list to get everything ultimately for free. if you look at most of the things people are finding its the branded mass produced items which are rather unhealthy but people are buying it just because its cheap/free..

It must be so nice to be able to shop where you like regardless of cost or budget. Thank you sooo much for highlighting that you are so much better off than the rest of us and rubbing our noses in the fact.

Some people on here can't afford the basics of life and struggle to pay bills and rent . My mother often went without food herself to ensure we ate a decent meal.

Thank you for showing us how the other half live it is so educational to be shown how poor and worthless we are just for trying that little bit extra to make our money stretch.
