:j:j:j:j to paying balance of holiday in cash.

I bet if you stop yourself from going  you will feel very very proud and satisfied. I think that things feel so much more enjoyable when you hand the cash over up front. Then you dont have that sinking feeling after the fun when you have to pay for it at a higher price.

I agree, cheri - it does feel good in all sorts of ways.

The car is also going to cost a bit - still worth spending though to keep it going for a little while longer, but again I am able to do it without borrowing the money, so it is all good - apart from the pain of taking it out of my savings!!

Thank goodness that dinner tonight is courtesy of Clubcard deals!!

Which part of the South of France, Hypno? We're off to Montpellier in a couple of months and love it down there. (It will be our 7th visit - including our honeymoon!) If you're going to that area I may be able to give you some tips.

We are off to Antibes - I am very much looking forward to it as it will be our first "proper" summer holiday for many many years

So, bowling and dinner last night with the kids....lots of fun, and a much needed laugh after a bit of an odd week for us all. Not late home, so able to get an early night all round too which won't have done any of us any harm!

Today is DD's 17th  So driving lessons start this morning......

Weather check for the polo being carried out mid morning......then I can plan the rest of my day accordingly!

Have a good weekend everyone x

:T:j:T Well done on paying the holiday and car costs without having to borrow :T:j:T That is such a huge achievement :T:j:T

Sounds like a dodgy week for you all, hope it was nothing serious and glad you could have a relaxing evening together to put it behind you.

Loving the sound of the Polo, hope the weather holds out for you :)

Hope DD's first driving lesson goes well, and happy birthday to her.

  • what lovely tales of jolly holidays and Jilly Cooper :rotfl: - your trip to the South of France sounds like it will be very, very much appreciated and a real milestone.

I am off to Italy in less than 2 weeks, and apart from the flight on my credit card, it will all be paid for in cash earned through my 2nd job - an amazing feeling as you say. I just hope it's worth all the effort I've put in!!! - I'm sure it will be really :D

happy birthday to your DD, I hope she enjoys her first lesson! :j

Thanks guys - the last few days have been a bit odd.....XOH has announced he is moving in with his new g/f and her children. There is no animosity there as far as "we" are concerned, but it does obviously have an impact on the children as they digest the news and figure out how to adapt to it....which as teenagers is not always as easy as it first seems!

As I say, it is not "bad" stuff, just stuff that has to be dealt with on an emotional level as well as a logistical level.

DD is currently on her driving lesson......am eagerly awaiting her return so she can tell me all about it! I have spent a lovely couple of hours with a friend, and my polo crowd are opting for pub lunch with possibly a shorter visit to the polo inbetween the heavy showers we are having!

I did get excited for a moment as I returned home this morning and saw a case of wine in the hallway.....then I read the label and realised it was for the people who live opposite who obviously aren't in, and DD had just taken delivery of it for them. It's a shame there will have been a card put through their door telling them it is with us.......:rotfl:

LHG, having just been to Rome, I really really want to go back to Italy again soon......will be saving hard for a return trip!

I still think you need some hugs H, must be strange for the chaps having dad move on. Pouring down here, hope you enjoy the polo and don't get too soggy.
