I certainly needed the sleep, that much is for sure! I've had a fairly easy day of it today as well, which is also much needed. Just the usual washing etc being done, as well as clearing out my email inboxes, and dragging everything out of my wardrobe in order to be sorted, and re-hung properly etc.....the sort of thing that no one will notice when they walk in the house, but that I notice is much more ordered!
Also means that if I am in the house all day, I cannot be spending money, so that is a bonus too!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -

Urm, let me think about that for a moment Pickle......urm NOPE!! Sorry!!
It seems so bizarre that at my last house I was so badly organised and so untidy, and now I have a house that I love being in order - definitely forms part of my general wellbeing. Don't get me wrong, it is still a "lived in" family home, so not a showhouse by anyone's standards, but compared with years gone by, it is very different.
Today I have done some of the little things like moving picture hooks - when I moved in, I just hung pictures on the hooks that were already there, even though they weren't central when compared with my own furniture etc - today I have taken old hooks out, and put new ones in the right place so that the pictures do not look as though they have just been dumped there! A mirror that has been propped up against my bedroom wall since I moved in has also been hung.
So, like I say, little things that other people may not even notice, but which make a big difference to me.
I am starting to get a proper "feel" for this place - I have always known it is the perfect home for us right now, but it is only when you have been somewhere for a few months that you start getting to know what really, truly, is going to work in terms of "things" and decor etc......I have reached the start of that process I think, so envisage more sorting of things over the coming weeks. Stuff that was unpacked, and really shouldn't have been can be repacked and either stored or disposed of.....furniture moved a little, and then I will start on choosing colours for the walls......exciting timesSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. Hi, Hypno,
Sorry to hijack your thread (I’m a long-time lurker but rarely post) but would be grateful for some local knowledge.
DH and I are coming to Norwich for a couple of days at the end of July and I wondered if you could recommend some good places to eat. I know there are branches of several chains (Cafe Rouge, Prezzo etc) but we use them fairly often (on Tastecard!) and fancy something different for a change. It doesn’t have to be “bargain basement” but neither do we want to pay silly money. We’ll be staying at the Maids Head Hotel and won’t be bringing the car. Oh, and I have a severe reaction to chilli, so Indian, Thai, Mexican etc are ruled-out.
Any suggestions of “must do/see” while we’re there would be gratefully received, too.
Thanks,

hi GF - the good thing about the Maids Head is that it is very central so lots of nice places to get to. Just up the road on Tombland (literally a stones through) there is Zizzis, Caffe Uno, and a couple of nice places called farmer browns, and Tatlers (if you wanted something a bit more special). From there, you have a huge array of bars if you fancy - some of which offer good food - I had a good steak sandwich in Vodka Revolution just round the corner last night - and didn't need to partake in the vodka alongside it!!
Heading further into town, if you go to Chapelfield, there is a fantastic locally sourced food place called Mackintosh's canteen - a la carte upstairs but cheaper versions downstairs - have never had a bad meal there, but it is popular pre-theatre, so timing is key!
A couple of places on Pottergate to try are the Belgian Monk if you like mussels and beer, and The Iron House which is new but has good reviews and looks lovely.
All within walking distance, all reasonably priced. Norwich really is a superb place for eating out nowadays and plenty to do whatever the weather!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. So, dragged myself out of bed this morning and went for a run - was beautiful around the countryside in the sunshine, and I am very glad I made the effort.
Nothing much planned for today - will just see what develops I think. Have a good one xSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Thanks, Hypno. It's always worth asking a "local". If you ever want some London recommendations, just ask.
