Glad you had such a lovely time. As for the clothes spending - well, isnt that what the bonus was for this year? Enjoying your life a bit more MUST include shopping in the most fashionable country on earth! Good for you for not thinking twice and regretting it later. Sounds like it is one to add to my list too. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. I was good with the spending - honest....I didn't even go in the shoe shops :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
When I re-did my wardrobe last year, after my life (and my weight etc) changed so much, I didn't do the summer clothes - I concentrated on work basics, casuals and underwear. So apart from the dress I bought to go on my beach-date last week, I have no summer dresses or anything similar, either for work, or for socialising.
I bought 3 dresses in Rome - all suitable for the office/nights out with the girls/dinner with friends so a hole in my wardrobe has been plugged. And they are, I have to say, beautiful!
And of course, instead of paying on a credit card that I cannot afford, I paid on my debit card, and swept some of my bonus over to cover it. The Prada sunglasses were an extravagence - DD pointed out she has some "similar" ones from Primark......, but it is the first time my bonus has been spent on "me" for so many years, I don't feel bad at all
Now, if only I had stepped inside the shoe shops......:pSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
HA! If you had stepped into the shoe shops then you probably would be feeling guilty. What better way than to fill a gap in the wardrobe than with beautiful, high quality, fashion. I am sure that you will enjoy them and also every time you wear one it will bring back the happy memories of the holiday so double bonus. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Hey beanie:)
Been away from site for ages and managed to run up a load more debt so back to the grind again! Will I ever learn? Have a new plan now though so hopefully I can tackle it for good this time! Worst thing was that I should have cancelled credit cards after I cut them up and paid them off but forgot to and then new ones arrived when the expiry date came up and I foolishly had a spend up...or three, mainly on the house and treated the kids although regretting it now!!!
Never mind!!!!
I have a question actually.... Once credit cards have been cleared, does cancelling them and removing line of credit cause problems in the future? Ie booking holidays, flights etc or are u covered just as much using the debit card?November NSD's - 70 -
Hi Hypno
Rome sounds wonderful, especially the shopping!JAMIEDODGER wrote: »I have a question actually.... Once credit cards have been cleared, does cancelling them and removing line of credit cause problems in the future? Ie booking holidays, flights etc or are u covered just as much using the debit card?
As I understand it you have NO protection when paying by debit card. It is safer to keep a credit card with a small credit limit for high value purchases. You just need to make sure you pay it off, in full, each time.:j Proud Member of Mike's Mob :j0 -
Thank you mattymoo:) I think I will keep the one with the smallest limit £1200. I will probably give it to my Best friend to take care off so I don't get tempted again! Have cut up other cards except this one and have also removed all details from online sites, amazon, etc.
Sorry for hijacking your thread hypo:) xNovember NSD's - 70 -

Thanks beanie, I have just emptied my purse of everything except my debit card, cash and points/bonus cards. I will keep the one creditcard for holidays/flights etc but only if I can afford to repay in full when the bill comes in...might be quite a while before I am able to book that city break tho, but it is just the motivation I need:)November NSD's - 70
