hi KT, that is a lovely post, thank you

With regards to the running, I just dipped in and out of it over a 20 year period - I do it because I get something out of it, ie a bit of headclearing space, and therefore that is what is important to me, rather than the times per se.
So really, over 20 years, I have just pounded out the same 10 or 11 minute miles, without really improving - I guess on Sunday it all just came together for me over 26.2 miles. I even had a break of about 15 years when I did next to nothing - truly nothing. I am running a 10k tomorrow morning, but as I still have the marathon in my legs, I will be very surprised if I manage to run it all without stopping. We shall see!
But, yes, for now I have found balance - and it is very much appreciated!
My parents didn't separate until I was 30 (am 40 now) and so I fully know where you are coming from. My kids have been fab all the way through, and we work very well as a "unit"
Just had a lovely lunch in the lovely sunshine with a lovely friend. Life is good :cool:Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -

but Hypno do you know Redmadcurls? I think that is her name? bakery? I haven't seen her around for a while and having lost a few people on here recently I just wondered.
Any how obviously huge congrats on the marathon you really are amazing for that and your ability to drink gin (which just makes me CRY) xxxxxNevertheless she persisted.0 -
Hi buffy - I don't know RMC in "real life" or even fb life, I'm afraid, but you are right, I don't think I have seen her about recently.
Perhaps the good weather and general business has restricted her time on here?Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Had a fab night - having beaten Ipswich 4-1 in November at home, we bettered it tonight by beating them 5-1 away

Supporting your local team really doesn't get much better than this. Fab atmosphere with some amazing people. Love it!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -

Reddie (RMC) has been M.I.A. since the end of March. I sent her a PM, but have received no reply. I'm assuming that she has her reasons, but she didn't give any indication that she was considering not posting any more, so I have my fingers crossed that she is OK, but has been waylayed for some fairly innocuous, but time-consuming reason.
Well done on the marathon, Hypno. Brilliant stuff! :TPlease call me 'Pickle'

Hi Hypno,
Taken me a while to catch up this week as been a bit manic at work! (Am off on holiday next week so been trying to finish everything!).
HUGE congratulations on your time. That is brilliant especially as it was so so hot. I did it in just over five and a half hours. So slower than I'd thought though I wasn't too cross with myself. My running pace was actually fine but had to stop for a wee (cos I was so nervous!) and also made a stop to change my top and try and sort a blister which all in all added a good 25 mins to my time! What an idiot!
I actually really struggled early on, which surprised me. Miles 9-13 were hard for me cos of the blazing sun but once I changes my top it got easier and I just focussed on taking each mile as it came! It was such a fantastic day!
Also congrats to Pania too!0 -
Congrats on finishing in a good time NLG - people underestimate the marathon I think and when you say "5 hours plus" it is easy to think of that as being disappointing or slow when you compare it to the training runs and endless 10 minute miles or whatever that you can push out.....BUT, the marathon is so so much more, as you now know!
5 and a half hours is nothing to be sneezed at - I've done three marathons in well over 5 hours, and all where I have been doing my training runs at a steady 10 min mile pace which would have brought me in under 4 and a half hours.....but on the day, the distance, the heat, the crowds, the "forgetting that extra 6 miles is harder than the previous 20" type stuff all plays its part.
You did brilliantly :T:TSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -

Morning luc! Happy Easter!
Today I have a 10k race planned for this morning - I wouldn't normally do such a thing so close to the marathon, but this is my Dad's annual memorial race, so is a different kettle of fish entirely. I will get round on emotion, not speed. All race entry fees go to charity and not to the running club, so it is a lovely event, and I am very proud that the club think so much of my Dad to name this race after him every year.
Then, once showered, and collapsed, I will head out onto my patio for a couple of hours in the sunshine, before a girlfriend heads over for dinner, wine and a girlie catch up as we are both child free this evening
Not a bad day, methinks - as long as my legs work for 6 miles this morning!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
I'm liking the second half better than the first, I have to admit. Hope the old leegies make it round for you ok. Collapsing is probably what I'd after 100 yards!
