Am home!
Cut our hols short by 24 hours or so as Eurotunnel staff are striking this weekend, and I really couldn't face the thought of sitting on a French Motorway for 3 days.....
We were lucky that someone heard it on the news and told me on Thursday, because we had made a deliberate decision not to watch the news or read the papers while away, to help in the whole "switch off" process. So we immediately hopped down to the campsite wifi spot and managed to amend bookings for the grand sum of £20, so just left a day early, for peace of mind really.
Got home late last night - 17.5 hours door to door which was not bad. tired today, of course, from the drive, but not the same sort of tired that I had before - hopefully I am more energised which will prove itself over the long weekend.
So today is not a lot - bit of pottering. I did most of the washing at the campsite, so not too much to catch up on at home. Have taken some meat out of the freezer and fancy doing some batch cooking tomorrow. Need to do a supermarket shop at some point, but picked up basics on the way home so no hurry.
The holiday was great - very relaxing - very hot. We didn't do a lot as we all needed just to wind down more than perhaps we had realised. Some might think that is a waste of a fortnight - but it really was just what we had to do.
Have a good day everyone - hope you have all been well xSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -

We were bombarded with texts from eurotunnel saying turn up as normal for the crossing but expect to be held outside the terminal, so be prepared with food, drinks etc.....they said they were not allowing people inside the terminal to use facilities etc.....so it just didn't seem worth the risk.
We had the best part of 2 weeks, so to cut short by just one day seemed the right way to do things, even if the strike is called off etc. Also, I just didn't want to undo all the stress relief of the past 2 weeks by sitting in traffic fretting whether we will get home. Was a no brainer for me!
Right.....need to make a plan for the day - have checked banking briefly, but really need to do *something*.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -

Well.......bits and pieces really - just unpacking so that the clean clothes can go straight into the drawers. then will have a hot shower and slather moisturiser all over to try and preserve my tan as long as I can
I've also been inspired by the fresh food we enjoyed over there to make more of an effort with my cooking, so have flicked through a few recipes and made a shopping list for required stuff - mainly herbs etc, and have made a tentative meal plan to go with it. DD enjoyed her food over there, which is a major achievement, so we need to run with that if we can!
Will watch a bit of SATC this afternoon I expect - still working my way through my box set.
What my main priority is, though, is not to let the post holiday lethargy take over - otherwise bags will remain unpacked, post remains unanswered, etc etc etc which will only lead to a knockon effect of chaos and stress, which I really really want to avoid!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground.
