A lot of the rioters, or should we just say thieves, are too young to have a job. It's their way of having "fun" and "shopping" for clothes, shoes etc that they couldn't afford if they had to pay. I'm sure the excitement of running rings round the police and setting fires is what many are getting off on. What is terrifying is how whole communities are at risk as these fires get completely out of control as the fire crews can't get close when the police can't guarantee their safety. People who lived in flats above the burnt out shops have just got out in time. Arson is such a dangerous activity as fire is so unpredictable.CCs @0% £24k Dec 05 £19,621.41 Au £13400 S 12600 Oct £11,981 £9481 £7500 Nov £7250 D £7100 Jan 6950 F £5800 Mar£5400 May £4830 June £4660 July £4460 Aug £3200, S £900, £0 18/9/07 DFW Nerd 0420

Scary stuff - it is very surreal around some of the areas affected though. Million pound houses literally around the corner from slums...no excuse for behaviour like that though. If 'kids' had boundaries and had to be in at a reasonable time and have respect for their parents - it wouldn't happen - then they couldn't get 'drawn' into mob mentality - and that's the top and bottom of it as I see it. Doh - when did I turn into a grumpy old woman??????????
I used to work in a nursery until recently and you could see the difference in many of the children at 3 years old, once parents arrived - they wouldn't dream of speaking to us (nursery staff) the way they spoke to their parents - and whats more THEY GOT AWAY with it - some of them have never heard the word NO - everything was a negotiation. I don't mean go back to Victorian age of 'children should be seen and not heard' - but I honestly think over several generations - the pendulum has swung too far and if a 3 year old has no respect - there's little hope of that child having any as a teenager (and that was in a fairly affluent area too) - Sorry Hypno - grumpy old woman slinking away again.........
Only came on to see how things were in Hypnoland - hope they're wellJanuary spends - £587.580 -
Yes, thank you milann - everything in hypnoland is well
Was a long day at work - quite tiring, but not a bad day, as such! Came home and went for a short run to get a bit of the gaaaaahhhhh out, followed by a soak in the bath, and now a sit down on the sofa. Will get an early night ready to do it all again tomorrow
Benefit of being so busy is no time to buy lunch - I picked up a loaf on my way in to work and had toast for breakfast and toast for lunch (we have a toaster at work and I keep butter in the fridge) and again bypassed Nero, so a bit of money found its way into the travel pots, which is always a good thing.
Holiday money has been transferred out of the holiday savings to get my euros, and I suppose I had better soon start thinking about packing and getting the car ready for the long drive. Maybe not tonight though.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -

Half way through the week - after today, just 2 working days to get through before 2 weeks of hols.....getting there!!
Tonight I need to go and do download work (much overdue) and nip into Mr Ts to top up on stuff to take to France, so a long day ahead of me, but I am used to those by now.....Went to bed ridiculously early last night and although didn't sleep brilliantly, must have got a reasonable amount, surely!
Moneywise - all ok I think - £2.10 coffee money duly transferred this morning, and toast and honey munched for breakfast.

Hey Hypno
It sounds like the break is coming just at the right time. Really hope you get some R&R.
I was also interested in your post about laws of attraction books. Have you got any that you would recommend?
Hope all is okay - I am shattered. A busy week ahead with my flatmate getting married this weekend; a new tenant moving in (her brother) and no washing machine! Am looking forward to chilling out a bit this evening.

Yes, the holiday is coming at the right time, that is for sure - am very much looking forward to it. Picked up my euros at lunchtime - always a sure sign that packing needs to start!
Urg, I read the books by Jerry and Esther Hicks. I have to say that they are a little odd in the way that they are presented (ie, a higher being speaking through the authors.....) but if you can "read through" that, and just actually take the text as though it was coming from the 1st person rather than the 3rd person, then I think they are ok. There are a whole series of them, some easier to read than others, but I have found that the ease at which I read them, actually depends on my own frame of mind and how resistant, or otherwise, I am at that particular moment.
The first one I read was "money and the law of attraction" - wonder why :rotfl:and it instantly resonated with me, and had a huge impact.
The second one I read was the one to do with relationships - I couldn't even finish it......but then this was at the time I was in the full on throes of a divorce, so I was perhaps not as responsive or open to it all as I could have been.
I've also got the books on the art of deliberate intent (ie making choices) and one about emotions.....both in the same series by the same authors.
Like I say, not necessarily the most straight forward of books in the way that they are written - bit marmitey in that you will love them or hate them, but they work for (or with) me.
Hope that helps - full price they are about £10 each, so have a look on amazon or at car boots as I suspect there will be lots that people have bought but never actually got on with so just want rid.
(whereas mine get re-read and have highlighter marks and everything)
