Whilst I don't condone the rioting one bit, I am not very surprised by it. The population has been very very stressed during this recession. This out pouring of anger is just the powder keg of this stress being set off.
Just like the riots in 1981 were set off by one incident, it rapidly got to a full blown riot then too.
This is the first time that we have had the modern telco age for them to 'coordinate' their actions also. It is the down side of it all.

From what I gather, it is mainly "kids" who are getting involved in these "copycat" riots. They don't, in my opinion, have the excuse of a pouring out of anger due to the recession.
There are pictures of fairly young teenagers looting, and laughing at the mindless violence......BBC news is currently showing a report of hundreds of mid to late teens rioting in Woolwich.
There may be *an* element of anger which has been triggered by a catalyst, There is also a huge element of chav idiocy and parents who don't give a toss. Ask any of them what they are fighting for, and I'd be happy to bet that they don't actually have an answer.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. I realised this had happened to me last night when a rioter said "I'm taking my taxes back" and I yelled at the telly "You've never paid any bloody taxes you lazy cow"

Although I have to say as someone with 17 years experience and a shedload of qualifications who is finding it REALLY difficult to find a job, it is pretty sh*te out there for anyone unemployed, particularly those with no experience. It's demoralising. The rioting though does seem to be a statement "I'll riot to protest I have no wide screen TV........Thank you".
It is like the 1980's apart from the fact Call me Dave and Gideon are also attacking the police, Thatcher was never stupid enough to do that.
