I have been putting it off a bit, I have to say - but last week I was quite headachy and couldn't shake it off, so think the time has come for me to have a re-test.

Definitely get the frames that you want Hypno. I have worn glasses since I was 9 (contact lenses since 21 and could afford them) but I have always had the cheapest frames as my prescription is so strong I opted to pay for the thin lenses which cost an absolute fortune. Last time though I decided to get really nice frames and the difference it made was great. I started to wear my glasses more than my lenses again.

Ouch .... I still don't wear glasses regularly - the only sticking point I have is that cooking instructions (especially for Quorn, for some reason) are printed in such a tiny font, they're impossible - I'm very tempted to just buy a magnifying glass the next time I pass a poundland shop!

Hope you can find a nice cheap way to buy the frames you really like, Hypno.

I've been resisting wearing my glasses unless absolutely necessary, because although my current frames are ok, they were bought before I had my "life change" (was going to write "change of life", but that's an altogether different thing yet to be experienced!!!) and somehow they don't reflect the new me.

So, on the basis that they will last me at least a couple of years, and will be more likely to be worn if I like them, and therefore I am less likely to get headaches, so will feel better, I will be buying the frames I want.

Even if I am paying for the word "Chanel" on them :rotfl:

  • Could you get the eye test and the frame make and model number and try and buy them online to see if they are cheaper?

I may do, but I like the service element of actually being able to go into the opticians for things like having them tightened, or baggsing a new case when I have lost mine etc - also, because DS wears glasses and is always wrecking them through his sports etc, it is v useful having a friendly and accommodating optician for emergency repairs and (rather more than is usual) replacements!

Ooh good news on the tax refund! :T I'm glad to hear the pots are still going though ;)

Know what you mean about the glasses, I'm currently wearing two pairs I got online and they're fine - in fact I really like the shape of them - but it's not the same as getting them fitted properly. Ones with Chanel written on the side sound rather fab :D

ps I just cannot 'get' SATC - a friend made me sit through the film.. aargh!
