Your hen do sounds hilarious, souk - and well done on the winnings - a huge bonus there!
I was quite disciplined in IKEA, and had made a definite list before we went, because I know how easy it is to get carried away. We did, of course, find a couple of things in the trolley that weren't planned purchases, but on the whole we only bought what we went for, and the stuff that we brought home that wasn't on the list were things that will get used, eg duvet set.
So.......Monday morning, and I am incredibly tired (again). I will be having a week of early nights I think to try and catch up with myself.
Moneywise, payday at the end of the week - after the spending at the weekend, I am pretty skint, so nothing social going on this week, and only eating what we have in the house. We'll survive!
Have a good week, everyone!

The spending diary continues - I have stuck to it for a week so far - ok, so it may not sound much to some of you die-hard spending diary addicts out there, but that is pretty good for me. Combining it with writing down all the other financial bits and pieces is good for me - so I can see not only exactly what I am spending, but also what is in each pot, what is due in, and what still has to come out of the bills account etc before payday.
And the coffee habit is being cracked too - today is the first coffee I have had for a while - and that is only because it is a freebie from a loyalty card that I had previuosly filled up. The travel pots have been benefitting from the couple of ££ each day that is being transferred over instead, and it is nice to see them building up.
Payday is on Friday - the last one before my hols, although there will be another one while I am away if absolutely necessary - so I really do need to make sure that the cash lasts us throughout the summer.....which I suspect will be easier said than done, like every parent of kids on school hols in the UK!
Most of the new furniture has been assembled in the house, and it is looking much more ordered than before. I have some pictures to hang and others to move around as a result, so this evening the spirit level and the hammer will be out. Ironing, too, beckons. I so know how to live!!
Anyway, things could be worse - much much worse. I think I'm doing ok!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
I get paid on Friday and am going to be starting a spending diary then I think. I'm (hopefully) about to buy a new car and funds shall be tight again for a little while. I really should go back on to the DFW boards as I'm having to borrow funds to do it, but I like the idea of staying on MFW just now as it's giving me a goal - repay the car loan ASAP and get back to working on the mortgage again :rotfl:0

I did see the new car excitement on fb, F-F :T As to whether you should be on MFW or DFW, it doesn't really matter as long as you keep your focus in a way that works for you
It is nice to see you about over this side, of couse, but the main thing is that you are on top of things and paying down whatever borrowings you have
I had to give serious consideration to buying a new car this summer, as all winter I have had no end of problems with my current car.....but thankfully a few weeks ago the garage managed to work miracles, and since then, it has been fine.....if I can keep it going for another 12 months or so, I will know more about whether DD is going to Uni, and what DS wants to do after GCSE's etc, which will give me more of an idea as to what I am committing myself to financially for the next few years before spending money on a car.

I'm sure you will be rid of the borrowing in no time - you have learned the good habits of sticking to a budget and PADding, and can see what a difference it makes, so you are just applying it to something new and exciting.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Yes, mine is on 110k so far.....it is 9 years old, and really has done me well so far - especially when I consider the trips to the Alps etc. I am banking on it getting us to the south of France next month......fingers well and truly crossed!!
