So.....middle of the week, and for the first time in a while I am wishing the hours away until payday on Friday!! After spending another chunk of my savings on the IKEA trip, I have very little left to fall back on now.....having spent some of the savings on getting the car sorted a few weeks ago - no regrets about either, but it does just take me back to the "must budget come what may" situation.

This doesn't take into account my regular savings which is there for a real emergency, but which I don't want to dib into just to get me through the month. Or the pots of money that I have for holidays, or DD's driving lessons. So the actual reality is still far far improved from previous years, but in terms of day to day stuff, I need to focus.

So.....I am still on track, but what is in my purse is what I have to make do - £12.....sounds ok, but I need to bring the car in tomorrow so will need to park - £5.20. Also, I made a lovely salad for my lunch today, but left it at home  so will need to be disciplined at lunchtime and have a can of soup from my desk-store, whether I like it or not!

The T-mobile refund came through today - that has been transferred into the holiday spending money pot for next month's trip, which I am very pleased with.

I have started to work out August's budgets.....very aware that the summer hols can be far more expensive than anyone ever imagines, although 2 weeks we are away which hopefully is becoming more budgeted for, and for another week the children are with their father, so that should be a little less demanding for me.......must focus, must focus, must focus!!

    Have a good hump-day everyone x

Well, I had a tin of soup - it was ok, but hasn't exactly filled me up, so am going to have to fight the hunger pangs this afternoon. I do have some cereal here, so may well end up having a bowl of that in a little while. Am determined not to spend money on food just because I was stupid enough to leave my lunch at home.

Have paid in another £35 of the bagged up coins into the holiday spending money account - there are just coppers left to be paid in now which is only a few ££ but will all help fund the ice creams! Also closed 3 dormant accounts which netted £8.69......again, transferred into the holiday pots and is a job that I have been meaning to do for some time.

  • Sounds like the holiday fund is coming together nicely!

I bought a 4x4 truck for work last month, it lasted 4 weeks, had 2 major faults and died on the Edinburgh bypss in the rush hour with a trailer and full load . Monday morning my garage got a nice polite phone call from me and yesterday they put the money back on my debit card as that was how I paid them. Just waiting for it to clear and off to find another one asap.

Now my other car, thats a real beauty, top speed 187 mph, fab to drive but not mny miles to the gallon

Fingers crossed you get your money back soon.

I am pleased to report that I resisted spending any money today - had a bowl of cereal at work mid afternoon to stave off the hunger pangs, and ate my salad that I had made for lunch, for my dinner instead.

That means......trumpet fanfare.......that for the first time in as long as I can remember, I have had a NSD :T:T:T

I did have to search the threads to make sure I had recalled such things in a correct manner......
