When the lottery was in it's early days my old boss never played it. One morning his wife woke up saying give me a pen quick. She wrote down 6 numbers and said they are the lottery winners. Just to humour her, he bought a ticket for that Saturday's draw and the numbers didn't come up so he ranted about what a waste of £1, never doing that again etc. Guess what numbers came up the following saturday?? He was very sick!

Brutal, but true. He was very upset and didn't think it worth using the numbers again as it must be one in a billion chance of them coming up again. But how amazing to dream them in the first place!

    Friiiiiidaaaaay :j

So, coming to the end of another week - am about to check my budgets but all looking pretty good...one week until payday, and I think I will survive!

I will be using some of my savings on Sunday, though - we are heading to IKEA to get the bits of furniture that we need for the house. Have been putting it off until we got "settled" so that we knew exactly what we would need and not make false purchases that we regretted in 6 months time! It has become a bit of a priority, now, because although we all have built in wardrobes, we don't have chests of drawers etc. I'm looking forward to getting them assembled and feeling a bit more "complete", if that makes sense!

Tonight is Westlife :rotfl:with the girls. Should be an absolute blast!

Oh, and no coffee purchased again today.....I don't think I have bought one all week, actually - perhaps on Monday (can't remember back that far) but certainly not since then :A

    Morning
actually the things you are doing are the things that helped me to clear most of my debt back in the dark days. I also used to put any savings from shopping away too! So if it was something I would buy anyway, eg. bread, and there was an offer on, the money went into the pot. PAD was the way to go in those days, and it really worked.

Won't be joining you on Shred though.

I tried that once with the shopping too, but it never really worked out for me! The PAD-esque type thing for coffees etc is something I have done many times before and always works really well when I do it.....and when I was clearing my egg loans (boo hiss) there were many online transfers for £1.90 going through.....!

It is nice to be doing it for more exciting things now, though!

Have just banked £50 of bagged up loose change.....there is a further £40 bagged ready to take in another day, and probably another couple of bags close to being full that can go in the next couple of weeks.

This is all spending money for our holiday in France next month and is just literally loose change thrown into a jar in my desk each day. It soon adds up, and hasn't been missed, so I am very pleased with that.

Not quite "money for nothing", but almost.....:D

I throw my 2 pences and 5 pences in a jar. Took them to Skegness on holiday for the cheap slots (wont spend more than 2p a go lol) and I refuse to use "real " money and won £37 in pound coins which has been brought home to start the savings pot for next years mini break. Feels like money for nothing.
