Hi folks!
Really looking forward to the Royal Wedding, didn't realise that i'm so pro-monarchy, maybe just excited to see something so positive happening in the world and proud of the UK having the eyes of the world watching us for the day....reminds me of just how unique we are!!!
LD - I can recommend the medication line. You could say that you're on a health kick and backing off the wine. If you feel that you want to be a part of it then I can also recommend Becks Blue for alcohol free lager - tastes like the real thing but without the dizzyness/sickness etc. How about saying that you want to make the most of, and remember, the whole day...
I'm planning on making a big jug of Sea Breeze Mocktail - Grapefruit juice and Cranberry juice mixed together poured over ice! Might be something you can take along with you for everyone to try. Its usually made with Vodka but given that vodka is taste-free anyway it doens't make a blind bit of difference. How about making a few selections of "Royal Mocktails" to take along with you! I'm sure everyone would like trying something a bit different. Children can try it too....part of the 5 a day also!
Mari - chin up - the fact that you are a member of this thread speaks volumes. Be kind to yourself! :A
Hope youre ok Miss Piggy
Have a good day everyone.

Lornadoone, I would go for the antibiotics/medication line. If your female and under a certain age people may just assume you are pregnant. It is amazing the pressure people are prepared to exert to get others to drink, proping up the status quo. Good luck everyone!0

All suggestions are really welcome...thanks ever so much

I find 'I might have drink later' works well. About an hour later the questioner is usually a bit drunk so has forgotten or doesn't care you're not drinking.
I find the whole justifying why I don't drink to others a little tiresome so I avoid it if I can.0 -
Hiya,
Can i join in for May please? My target is 20 AF days.
Wine is my downfall and it's just a habit I've gotten into. I used to live with a girl who opened a bottle every night and I'd generally have half the bottle. Then i moved home and I've cut down a lot but i'd like to cut down even more. My main weak times (outside of Saturday night which is still allowed) are Thursday and Sunday. So aiming for 20 for May and will improve from there!0 -

Re-May target. Still trying to hit target for this month .... but think I'm going to fail by a night or two
But hey, I've had more AF nights in April than I've had in months so I'm going to keep smiling. This thread makes me feel motivated and I love seeing how everyone's managing every day so I'm going to go for 12 again in May. Maybe join a Zumba class, everyone seems to be talking about it. Well done everyone who hits their target in April. Maggie0 -

This thread is sooo fab, thank you bearacus, Lala1974 and mrsrainman for your kind words.
DD has been called into work, so will have to pick her up at 11ish, meaning no chance of caving in tonightso will declare 1 AF for the challenge please bearacus.
Miss Piggy where are you chick? Hope everything is ok, we miss you x
Kerry78 welcome aboard! This is a fab place to be
Lornadoone recently I have been quite honest and said that I am just cutting right back on my drinking and trying to keep in within the recomended guidlines. This has had some intresting effects, notably that others seem to abstain/ drink less if I do (not sure what this say's about me...)!
Must get some chores done, then I may get to put my feet up later!
Take care,
Mari xx0
