Hi there, I am totally new to these forums and was wanting to ask a question to see if anyone has tried a particular organisation/company that says it can help people give up drink and then reintroduce and drink moderately (i.e. a dream scenario - I don't know how possible that is). The website comes up at the top or near the top of any search regarding giving up drinking, smoking or drugs and has a few different names eg. stop-drinking.co.uk or addictiontherapycenter.co.uk (am I allowed to post website names?). The treatment costs £495 for one session (so VERY expensive) and the number of sessions you need depends on how much you drink. I've actually given up for 2 months now but would love to think I could drink again, but only in moderation, hence my interest in this organisation. The website has lots of testimonials on it but I am still somewhat sceptical and would love to know if anyone has tried it out. I have spoken to someone from the organisation and I'm still not completely convinced, however much I would like to be. I'm sorry if this isn't the right thread to post on, and if it's not could someone direct me where it would be appropriate/ok? Thanks again and a huge good luck and congratulations to all of you who are doing so well with you AFDs.:)
Welcome Laura.
Friends and I have been on NHS funded controlled drinking courses.
Whilst we would love to be controlled drinkers, sadly as alcoholics this option will never work.
A.A. is free.:)

Some methods A.A. members have used for not drinking.

So if its alright with you all if I can still post on the board everyday so atleast I will be thinking about how much drinking I am doing..
Legsxx
Of course you must keep posting legs, I'm sure it'll help keep you focused. Just to say that cutting down doesn't mean you must have AFDs. For myself it's the best way as I only seem to cope with 'all or nothing' (although pleasingly the 'all' has lessened over time). Others can drink moderately but more regularly. I reckon my DH and I drink about the same. He has a couple of glasses every day whereas I prefer to drink the same amount but confine it mainly to weekends. It's all cutting down. Horses for courses.
14 AFDs for November and 4 for the SNC please.
I'll probably manage a couple more next week too which will give me my best monthly score for a long while.:D0 -
Morning :hello:
1 more AFD, so SNC completed Bearacus.
ShaggyxWhat do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -

Mornin' all. The sun's shining here for the first time this week and it certainly does lift the spirits. I've managed one more AFD yesterday so that's 3 out of 4 for the SNC please Bearacus. I'll take your advice in future and underestimate what I think I can do. I blame last week - my first full monty SNC ever and it made me cocky!! The mind's a contrary old scuffer - instead of being over the moon that I've had 17 AFDs out of 24 days this month - 17 - I bet I haven't had more than 2 AFDs a month in 10 years and then only in months with an R in - all I can witter about is failing my SNC. Get a grip Anna.
That's 17 please Shaggy in case you missed it :j0
