Another 1 AFD for yesterday please (2 in total,) planning a night in front of the TV tonight whilst pondering what to get my Dad, Brother and Boyfriend for Christmas. Asked what they wanted and got a "I dunno" from all of them! No ideas at all.

Good night last night :j. Only the teeniest, tiniest of bells and I was really expecting problems as I'd been drinking the night before. Went to bed early so that helped. That's another 1 for my SNC please Bearacus and Nov's total up to 13 please Shaggy.

When I stopped smoking (years ago now) after I got over the initial cravings I remember having a real sense of freedom - freedom from having to take cigs and lighter everywhere, freedom from worrying at 10 at night if I'd enough to last or I'd have to go out, freedom from wondering if I smelled bad .... Last night I had a lightbulb moment. Could I end up free from that desperate longing for a drink?

I always thought that a life without alcohol would be the most boring life not worth living. That kept me drinking for longer.

I had to change myself otherwise I'd be white-knuckling it all the time, and I have NO will power where alcohol is concerned.
So I couldn't just stop drinking. I needed to change, and for that I needed help from others.

Changing myself is the best thing I have ever done - free from the obsession of drinking, and also my anxiety, depression, and chaos has been lifted.

What I do know about me is that I had to drink every drop, wet every bed, break every promise, spend all that cash, etc before I was totally willing to do anything to achieve sobriety.

Good luck with whatever you do

I didn't Bearacus, I wasn't AF on Tues. Wasn't AF last night as expected, but didn't embarrass myself, which is a start. Feel rotten this morning though, have woken up with DS's cold. Now just got to get motivated and go Xmas shopping. Ugh.

3 AFD so far thanks Shaggy last night was not AF but was one of the 2 days I said I would have a couple of drinks. Didn't get silly, I was very impressed with myself. Chilling out for a bit before sorting out the Sunday dinner.Want to go for the full monty on SNC this week please.
  • 16 please, Shaggy, thanks.

Not AF last night but not too bad!
  • Ashamed to say I got absolutely wasted last night and threw up all over my friends sofa, twice :o Didn't even have that much to drink, but I did mix them. DH had to go to their house this morning to clean it up, as I was in no fit state. I'm declaring early tonight as I have no desire whatsoever to drink tonight. I think that takes me to 9 AFDs. DH is just in the process of polishing off his 2nd bottle of wine :(

Completely empathise with you rachelww1 - mixed my drinks on Friday night and ended up chucking up and getting stupidly emotional.......all in front of my mum. She already has a lot on her mind and I have now added to her worries with the amount of booze I am putting away (not on a daily basis, granted, but when I go for it, I really go for it) :(

Anyway, was AF both Sat and tonight (declaring early as know I won't drink tonight - still feel too ashamed about Friday) so up to 13 AFDs for Nov please Shaggy and can you put me down for the full monty SNC please bearacus...
