    Hello
I had planned to have a drink on Saturday. However, I did it Annie style, got totally hammered and spent the whole of yesterday throwing up (sorry, tmi).
Can't remember panything after about 8pm, other than downing a lot of red wine. I woke up in the bed my visitors were meant to be sleeping in with them having spent a very uncomfortable night on the sofa with only one blanket, I was somehow wearing a t shirt belonging to my son (who's 11) and not really knowing what happened.
Think I'll give the booze a miss from now on.

    4 for the SNC please.

    Snap!
After a period of not drinking, that would often be what I did.
Never deliberately, and I would promise myself (and others) that i would never do it again. But I did.
Nothing changed for me until I realised I had to change
  • wish i had seen this thread earlier! i am having a dry september and am 22 days AF wooooohoooo! its been really challenging...especially on weekends.

I must say, nights seem a little boring with no booze...did anyone else find that stopping drinking leaves a gaping hole in your social life?

I am really enjoying being AF during the week though - am aiming for 20 AF days in October!!

It did initially, but then all my socialising was drink based (pub/dinners/bars/watching sport in pubs).

After a period of not drinking, I socialise in different (and more varied) ways, and life has never been more fulfilling.
My world was small when drinking. I only really enjoyed myself if there was booze involved. My life's bigger now, and I make sure that hole is filled. I have to work on it that it stays full however.
I am an alcoholic, and I don't get days off from my alcoholism
  • Twenty-two today.
I don't really have a gaping hole at all. I have my daughter, and I'm quite enjoying most things. I'm not looking forward to a wedding on Saturday. 8/9 hours of not drinking!!
Can we just take it as read I didn't mean to offend you?
  • Mr and Mrs Jungle are joining the gym tomorrow...what you said is true graemecarter - much of our socialising involved pub/grub/more pub too. congrats at being able to make that shift in mindset - that must be a massive step forward for anyone drinking wayyy too much...

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.
