  • Afternoon all!

Thanks for all your good wishes re my Dad. I know he'll be fine...just get a bit wobbly when my Mum or Dad are looking in any way vulnerable!:o

Bearacus - well done!!! Thats the sort of situation where I usually cave in so well done you on resisting!

Having a SERIOUS wobble here. Major out-law issues (won't bore you with the same old same old....suffice to say OH has finally developed a pair and told her to get off her high horse and stop being such an overbearing, interfering old mare!!:rotfl::T). OH seems remarkably calm and happy but I'm in a few bits at the moment. Just didn't want the hassle right now.

Phew! I will be calm...I will not drink....

    Miss P

I spotted one of the people I was with last night secretly pouring vodka that he'd brought with him into his pint of lager. :(

Why would you want to do that, i know i like a drink, but beer is beer, vodka is vodka - totally seperate in my opinion. I've never heard of mixing them together, except in the stomach!

Well done to all those who have been out socialising and stayed AF. Hmmm don't think i'm up to that standard yet. Today is Day 4 and i've had thoughts of drinking but obv can't as i'm working at 5pm, by the time i get back its too late, DH usually has a cuppa waiting and then we go to bed.

However i've found myself longing for Friday evening so i can have a drink, i have missed it in a habit way but not in what i've gained. I think i miss the taste too.

Do you remember back last winter i also confided that i suffered bulimia addiciton too. I've been struggling majorly with that since, but my 4 AF days have also been bulimia free - connection? Totally, because when i don't drink, i eat better causing me not to get into the binge purge cycle.

4 days, 4 days, 4 days, i don't know if i'll feel guilty if i have a drink tomorrow now. Anyone else struggled with this one?

  • Is it solipsistic to quote myself? Probably. Well I did indeed have a sod it moment but had a good time, didn't make a t!t of myself and got home safe so I guess that's OK. Sounds like a "controlled" sod it moment so thats got to be good ?:)

I have to admit, even though I've drunk a lot on nights out, I've never been one of these to slip a bottle of vodka in my bag to take with me. Could never quite get my head round the mentality of that.

:T:T:T that's brilliant news MissP and certainly not before time!!!

cuppatea, I totally empathise with you looking forward to Friday. My usual habit is to drink at weekends but not Monday to Thursday. If you just want to cut down then that's no problem. At first there can be a tendency to play catch-up and drink in three days what you used to have in 7. I found that over time my tolerance has dropped and I've definitely cut back by more than half. While I admire hugely people who stop completely, I never set out to do that so I'm happy.

    QUOTE]

Tell me about it!! She's not a happy lady today but, quite frankly, I really don't care. With things going on lately (more important things in my eyes), she really chose the wrong time to push her luck! :D Good on OH....he's gone up in my estimation :rotfl:

A generalisation I know, but the drink of choice for alcoholics tends to be vodka.

  • Hi all,

Back again! I hope some of you remember me?

If not, I'm Caz, still struggling with the drink and losing at the moment.

Been drinking lots over the last year - worse over the last 6 months or so.

    Want to tackle it.

Home life moving forward now - been divorced for a few months, completion on the former marital home is 21st. Stressing like mad that it goes through ok. I've found a flat for myself which I should be moving into over the weekend. A million and one things to do/deal with about the move and my ex has just !!!!!!ed off into her house and left me with everything to deal with.

Been drinking heavily most nights for a few months. Really need to stop, I know it's dangerous. And yes, my drink of choice is usually vodka, which is another bad sign.

And I can't afford it - I could have had a lovely cruise around the med with what I've spent on booze the last few months. My mind says every night, STOP! But I don't.

Nice to be back though - wanna deal with this. So Hello! :)

  • Just got home from a presentation at work to some Year 10 parents. The feedback was excellent, and I'm really pleased about it.
I'm not having a celebratory drink. This is very very unusual. Will watch the second half of the Fulham game, wait for the OH to get home, stroke the cat, and go to sleep.

    So 15 for me please.
Can we just take it as read I didn't mean to offend you?
