AFD #1 for me today please, finally.
Khufu (cat) still very unwell, have wanted a glass of wine tonight as I'm fed up but decided to keep off it.0 -

I've been a lurker on DFW for a while and saw this thread today.
I too have been having a nightmare with alcohol - had put a lot of weight on, made a show of myself all the time. Decided to try to give up for a while and get healthy. Was doing really well but then went to an event last week and fell off the wagon and again made a show of myself. Spent all of Friday being sick and actually blacked out in the bathroom and fell down injuring myself. As if that wasn't enough then met up with a friend (or perhaps not really a friend thinking about it as not sure can trust them) on Sat afternoon and got hammered again, spent loads and had an awful saturday night passed out on the sofa and then felt bad about myself all day today.
I'm pretty sure the reason I am unable to find a man is because of my drinking. But it's really hard. Have been through a lot over last couple of years (fiance left me for someone else who he is now marrying, had to move out of our house, got into debt because he wouldn't give me back what I paid towards the mortgage and now having some other issues I don't want to post here) and alcohol has probably been a way of coping.
Also, if I don't go out (so as to avoid temptation) I sit at home all weekend by myself.
Really hate myself at the moment and worry all the time about what my reputation is - feel like people laugh at me and their impression is "she's always p1ssed". I really do want to stop and haven't had a drink today (even though I've felt like it because I've been so bored) but just don't know how to prevent myself from giving in
Hello GTG - My first day here as well today. I can DEFINITELY relate to your situation. Maybe we can encourage each other a bit...? Lots of love and luck. xxx P.S. Don't worry what other people might or might not be saying about you - I had to learn to do that and it's much better if you're not beating yourself up for things that others may never have said. xx0 -
Thanks RuthnJasper - yes, I would love to help someone else out too - although I'm not happy others are in similar situations as they must feel as hopeless and helpless as I do, in some way it is a small comfort to know it's not just me.
Been reading back over some of the historical posts and think we need to accept what is done is done and we need to move forward as we can't change the past, we can only change how we live each day that follows.
Tomorrow I'm going to get up, work out, eat healthy, work so so hard and be so so concentrated at work (as that has been slipping recently too) and really try to feel like I've made something of the day.
Good luck to you for tomorrow also.xx0 -
THANK YOU to everyone who sent me encouragement - my parents gave me a very understanding and sympathetic hearing. I was pretty miserable - I REALLY wish I wasn't such a disappointment to them. But, one day, my IVA will be finished (in two years)... am getting there...
Mum and dad gave me £30 for petrol, so I put that in the car and the £48 I have should pay for fuel to last me for the rest of the month. Have store-cupboard ingredients and enough food for Jasper-dog for the month.
It's going to be tough... but fingers (and paws, for Jasper) crossed...!
Fakeplastictwee - hope Khufu (great name!) will be OK.
Thanks again to everyone for reading my posts (if I can't have a lot of wine, then I often have a little whine instead) x

Thanks GTG - you sound like a really smart person. I've had a pretty rotten old time of things in my life, but I'm not sure I'd change anything (well, apart from one thing maybe), because it's made me a lot braver in facing up to other situations, which would previously have reduced me to tears.
I'm going to try with one day at a time, and see how I get on. I know I'll make mistakes, but will just do the best that I can.
Let me know how you get on tomorrow! xx0 -

RuthnJasper - glad to hear your parents were sympathetic with you, you must feel a bit of a weight off your shoulders. x
I am feeling so so wobbly, the boyfriend has gone off up to bed and there's a fridge full of wine, and I'm feeling very down. If I hadn't logged on here I would've poured myself a glass by now. It's good to see a number 1 in my signature though so I'm not caving now.0 -
FPT - maybe try a nice glass of flavoursome cordial instead and think about how fantastic you will feel in the morning having had the willpower to abstain.x0
