Does anyone know the best way to make homemade sausage rolls?
I'll be buying frozen puff pastry so I'm guessing I just buy sausagemeat, add some onions and sage?? and the roll them and pop them in the oven??

Hi kazmc,
There's a thread with lots of recipes and advice for making homemade sausage rolls that should help so I've added your post to it to keep the recipes together.

Hi beautiful_ravens,
As your recipe has dropped down the board I've also added it to the main sausage roll recipe thread so that other users can find it easily.

I bought frozen sausage rolls to cook for boxing day this year but just having a look through this thread and I've decided to try some hm ones - I havent made any since the kdis were little.
I have frozen puff pastry or might try Delia's quick one, and I have sausage meat and various types of sausages in the freezer. I fancy a filling of pork sausagemeat mixed with a little stewed apple, or some made up sage and onion stuffing mix. I also used to make a cheese and potato roll but cant remember what seasoning I used to add (family recipe from a late aunt) but I think I'll experiment! the smell of sausage rolls always makes me feel christmassy!
... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

Hi what pastry do i need to make sausage rolls i have been using just rol puff pastry (the block one) is this one correct?0

You can use puff pastry or shortcrust, whatever suits you.
I would choose to use puff pastry myself, but I've made my own shortcrust for quick using-up recipes and that worked ok too. If using shortcrust you'd need a thinner layer as it's not light like puff pastry (well mine isn't:o).
It's only a game
