I had this done while in China and it was full body, not just feet. I enjoyed it but it was so tickly!A bargain is something you don't need at a price you can't resist0

OMG ! everyone is entilted to there view but for god's sake! it's just fish nibbling at your feet. I've had it done and it was fantastic!
If you don't fancy it don't do but don't try and scare others off:)
if people choose to have this done then fine but they go into it with concerns that have been raised not just by me, i have said all the way through my post its theoretical risk the health protection agency are investigating this at the moment
i believe that people should have the full facts and if i am in the position to put another side to things i will.your entitled to your opinion and i my dear am entitled to mine , the difference is mine is based on 14 years working in infection control understanding the theory of cross contamination and infection risks and your is..............?
all i have said is that until furthur evidence is produced either way i would not advise it0 -

My friend works in infection control..... she's a cleaner. She's also an expert in cross contamination and every Friday avoids the daggy men in our local.
Where does it stop? I've had many fish pedicures and love them, each to their own but we've enough watchdogs and agencies that if these were presented a significant risk they'd be shut down!0 -

and maybe when they have enough evidence against them, they will!
and if not, fair enough, but surely people should think about these kind of things, not just step right into it without at least being informed
would you have an injection, a tattoo, or allow a dentist to poke about in your mouth for example, if you knew their equipment had previously been used on someone else and not even sterilised?
no way!
so why are you happy to have a non-sterile fish nibble at your feet - a fish (which offers a great environment for the carrying and transmitting of a host of little nasties) which has previously nibbled at the feet of countless other unknown folk - you are happy to trust your health to some beauticians and a bunch of previous clients who did not have to mention any infections if they didn't want to...
perhaps it's because i recently lost my sight in one eye, but i fail to see why people value their own health so little0 -

seeing as the deal is over, and the various comments keep bumping this thread up again, shall we agree to disagree and move on guys and gals?0

huh? that person is quite right to say what they have done about the risk of trying this treatment. if there are possible health issues with fish pedicures, then surely it would be wrong not to mention it.
if you want to do it then fine, on your head (or feet) be it, but there are those who would appreciate a warning, even if you are not one of them...
there are plenty of people who still smoke even though the boxes clearly state on them in huge letters that smoking kills....
I don't smoke thanks:-) I just think OMG turn it off and let people think for themselves. You pitch up see the set up fish and all and decide. Very simple. But if you don't think it's such a good idea dont do it but don't give out to others that you know better than the rest of us cos actually you don't :-):)0 -
Working in infection control as what? Mine is allowing people to think for themselves my dear! People used to think the world was flat my dear :-)
the my dear bit was sarcasm by the way !
i am struggling a little to understand why you had such a knee jerk reaction to my response as i have said throughout this is about informed choice, iam mearly putting the other side across so i will not "turn it off"
and exactly this has to the world being flat, you lost me on that one0 -
People such as myself who keep many fish will understand why this is incredibly cruel
People who don't keep fish or who have a goldfish in a bowl won't understand and it's very complicated, but if someone said they were going to put dozens of dogs in a tiny cage and send dirty humans in one by one for the dogs to clean with their tongues, day in, day out, until they died, people would have something to say about it... and the fish pedicure thing is hundreds of times worse for the fish than that.
I understand that currently the practice is legal and that people will choose to use it but I'd like to appeal to those who haven't thought it through to spare a thought for the fish,
Thanks
Hi,
you have got me thinking. I tried this and now feel SO guilty as I now realise this could be cruel to fish. Many thanks for enlightening me.
