I haven't seen the programme yet; however, I note that Cath Kidston does kilt pin brooches and will be checking to see if it is one of hers. Because they aren't very :money: unless they're a present.... sorry, Cath!

...erm, no, I don't think it was! Definitely looked like a scrimper version to me :rotfl:

I thought the 'Miss Moneypenny' idea was awful, soooo 'Channel 4' ;) and the only thing I learnt from the programme was that it doesn't matter what your income is, you need to live within your means. Found it hard to feel sympathy for people living on such a fabulous income and still struggling. My husband has recently moved jobs but still feels under pressure to earn more as whatever he brings in is never enough, but this just shows that it will never be enough... we have to learn to not spend more than we have.

  • what a crap programme two overweight annoying buffoons. You would think if she had all them acres of land she would be as thin as a rake..my guess is she must be baking boxes of twinks and eating them everyday. and this 'moneypenny' oh dear why did she assume they would be making up a big load of curry just because they were asian....even they looked at her and she realised what she said won't be watching again

i've just watched this and didn't learn anything new except the egg shells and how easy it was to make pasta (which is cheap if you ahve your own chickens but with 2 eggs if you were buying them a bag of pasta shapes is cheaper)

seriously how horrible was her hat? and an orange hat and pink coat?

i really hope they show 'real' people aswell as next weeks looked quite well off aswell, i don't think any of us OS/MSE will learn much tho as we know most things

oh and i just wear my manky undies:o seriously i only replace mine when i change sizes, i throw my pants away when they get holey, i tend to buy a variety of colours, and keep a white/cream one for under white tops

"Overweight annoying buffoons"!!!! Brilliant! And weren't they just so patronising? (And boiled pastry - err - pasta - er - not .. just looked disgusting.)

Any fule can make a programme where the start point is so high, ANY reduction is easy (there have been 'frugal' food programmes like that - start with a MASSIVE spend - easy peasy to cut back!) It's when you're cutting back and making the best of not very much to begin with - now there's the trick, and I've found it here.

I did like the old lady (?Joyce) who dyed her knickers and cut up her poor husband's socks. I'm not sure the nix were worth a pot of dye. Or am I just thinking of mine?
