Well it killed half an hour, I was really peeved with the guy who NEEDED a big car, think his ego needs to take a back seat! I guess the show could get interesting but I think we will all just be astounded at the people who waste more money than we all earn in ten years.

Awful programme. Awful woman, Miss Moneypenny who dresses in a ridiculous way. Awful cameraman who seemed obsessed following 2 huge backsides along the country road.

Thought this was going o be a serious programme about saving and scrimping but really a waste of time.

ooh how exciting its like a miss marple adventure lol

I did like the idea of the perfume and baby oil for the bath , i might try it
didnt learn anything else though :(

I liked that idea too, I have a lot of perfumes that I don't use much and I have some baby oil so will try it. OH wasn't too keen on the idea, he turned his nose up and said 'well I won't be doing that!' lol! I had to explain that it wasn't water out of the toilet, and that eau de toilette was french for toilet water, lol!

i was a bit dissapointed. the eggshells idea i will try but that was it. I can sort of see how when you earn alot you spent alot (most people live beyond their means no matter what they earn) but still £2k a month extra when they must be on at least £4K-£5k if not more a month. what about all the normal familys living on low/middle incomes with rising prices, how they can cut back. although i cant imagine they will suggest anything i havent already read on here!!! :D

I didn't know about how to revive limp lettuce, and was shocked at their fact that 50% of lettuces bought go to waste
CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J
  • This program made me feel great about my spending! I'm a stingy cow anyways :D

I liked Yvonne. She's funny, especially her smalls.

That family.... Oh dear. Thing is, there are plenty of families in a similar situation. Sad but true. Should be interesting to see the family with a Wtrose obsession next week.

The program might turn out to be as annoying as the "shopaholic" books, but I'll watch it a few more times.
Call me what you like, I was a bit "tiddly" when I chose my username

  • Re the eggshells tip - I seem to remember that coffee grounds are good to put down your sink as they kind of "exfoliate" your plumbing, however, tea leaves are not to be recommended as they are too gunky (technical term! and would block your pipes). I suppose the eggshells work on the same basis.

It was an entertaining 30 mins, but not much new for us OS-ers. Perhaps a useful starting point for discussion with family or friends who are struggling with their overspending?

I didn't know about the sweet pea tip using toilet roll tubes - I knew about using them for sweet corn though. We have our own hens now - only 4 - but we save a fortune on free range organic eggs we used to buy (maybe a dozen a week), sell about a dozen a week to friends (£1 for 6) and always have the option of omelettes etc for tea instead of takeaway if we have nothing much in.

Not impressed at all. I could learn more on here in 5 minutes.

Not only that, why are they featuring people who can quite clearly afford not to scrimp?

Lady Muck manages to be virtually self sufficient. First, start with 30 acres. Well, that's nice. What do we do when we haven't got 30 acres?

The family from Birmingham. Annual income >£100K. Well, they must be feeling the pinch, let's see what we can do to help them squeeze a bit more out of a very comfortable lifestyle.

How about helping people that actually need it?

I can't see as I'll be watching this one again in a hurry.
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

I thought that was rubbish for what it was designed to do.

All I got out of it was that Mr consultant and Mrs nurse were about the dumbest people I have ever seen who did not seem to have a clue about anything. She had clothes for family weddings she cannot even name lined up, on the basis that with a big family someone was bound to get married sometime. What happens if she gets fatter on all those take aways and does not fit into them? :rotfl:

I was just thinking, what on earth are these people up to. Are they on here for a joke, it must be a joke?

I will probably watch it again, just in case that first episode was a trial run.

I just cannot see how a joint income of £108k and a normal looking house outside London can swallow up not only what you have, but 2k of what you don't have each month.

I could have stretched that 108k so much further. I would be hiring someone to type this for me for a start, lol.
