Loved the woman this week who writes small so she doesnt use much ink :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

In fact she makes me laugh every week............was it last week when she was snuggling up in bed in all her clothes to keep warm?

Only one of my tips in this week, glad it made you smile. Wearing my clothes in bed comes from my lorry driving days, yep, 32 years HGV. Sometimes I would keep my clothes on for a week when I lived in the cab :rotfl:

I love watching everything on tv like this about money saving.

I also don't think much of the people Mrs Moneypenny helps, they always seem to be reading from a script at the end when they are agreeing with all her ideas (but the look on their face looks more like 'fat chance'

I am very new to moneysaving and scrimping so find some of the tips helpful....I liked the tip this week about cutting down jeans..I seriously had never thought of that and I will be considering that now every time my 5 yr old twins grow out of their jeans/trousers...

Can anyone point me in the direction of Ilonas blog (can't seem to find it)

Removing a broken bulb from it's socket with a carrot was a new one to me. I liked that one. I find the thrifties and their tips a lot more interesting than the case studies they accompany, and most are starting to seem a bit more practical now than a lot of the initial offerings were. I did smile when Miss Moneypenny said that the spendy student could learn a lot from Gem (the young Scrimper). I love Gem's blog, but there are plenty of references in there to fashion and beauty things that she can't wait to spend her student loan on :)

Ilona I have to say thank you for the 'write small tip to save ink' :rotfl: I loved it!

Others may not though when they can't read a thing i've written and i'm wondering will it encourage me to throw away pens and biros that don't work instead of putting them back in the pot time and time again :D

Trying again to post on blog this morning, but it's not having it, it's on 'read only'. You're gonna laugh at this, I've come out without a pen and had to buy one. Shock horror, 50p from a shop. I tried to get a free one from a bank, but they all had them fastened to the counter with a bit of chain, mean and nasty so and so's, ha ha. So Now I am writing even smaller, to try and claw back the 50p. :rotfl:

Ilona, you make us smile every week! :)

Watching the lady altering the jeans this week reminded me of this jeans apron pattern
    http://mybyrdhouse.blogspot.com/2007/07/july-apron-tutorial-jeans-apron.html

I don't wear aprons that often (only when using lots of flour) but something tells me I NEED a jeans apron!

I like the DIY guy. Some interesting stuff there. I didn't know that about the drain unblocking, although the carrot to remove half a lightbulb is bizarre... I've never had a lightbulb snap in half upon removal. Is it common?
The tinned foil paint tray.. does it not come off when you're "loading" the paint? I'll definitely be trying that next time I do some painting. Cleaning brushes/trays is the worst part of any painting job.

While the student's spending was out of control, her mum should have cut her off.
I do think instead of Mrs Moneypenny - they should have sent Gemma (of superscrimping-army fame) to help her.. as her tips are mostly fashion/cosmetics based.
Maybe this wasn't possible due to the way the series is shot.

To be fair to her on the socialising...I do have distant hazy memories of my youth. On the odd occasion I went clubbing at college, some clubs were nearly £10 to get in, then drinks £4-£5 each. I can see how if you were a big drinker and socialiser (presumably more expensive in London too) and went to multiple venues, you could spend £60 in a night, including taxis and everything.
My girlfriend immediately disagreed with this, and said that the girl would be entitled to loads of student discounts. I didn't go to university so wasn't aware of these offers.

How unlucky you weren't near an Argos.....although their tiny pens are horrible to write with.
