As for making a gold arm band thing. Why is that girl on the program? I havent see her make anything nice yet never mind free. Yuk.

I have no idea why she's on the show.

She's deluded - and so are the people who think her ideas are good and 'superscrimper-worthy'!

    That gold cuff?

    Laughable and naff!

How much did the glue cost?
And how much did the gold spray paint cost?
It's OK saying "I cut up an old lace tablecloth and made a cuff" but what's the total cost of the 'free' item?

She could probably have nipped into Primark and bought a gold-look bangle for a couple of quid.

I hadn't even noticed that this was back on the screen....no tele, good money saving tip, ha ha. I just watched a bit of it on catch up, and have to say, I found it boring. I think I will stick to reading your comments, much more entertaining. Please tell me if I have missed something really important, don't all rush at once. :rotfl:

Old lace tablecloth - £5 - £10 from charity shop, up to hundreds of pounds in value if nicked from nan's cupboard.

Tin of gold spray paint - £7 from B&Q, more from craft stores or if specialist fabric paint.

Glue - be kind, here, maybe she already had some in the drawer under the contents of the dustbin she adorns herself with regularly.

So, for between £12 and £800, she's got a flippy flappy floppy bit of stuff to put around her arm that she can't wash, so will have to throw away fairly quickly. And a grandmother who won't ever let her in through the front door again.

Cost of buying small piece of purpose made lace from haberdasher's - about £3.

Cost of five bracelets from Primark - £1.50. And they look less cheap.

Yeah, it's a bargain, that one.

  • This programme is the biggest pile of horse poo ever (actually no horse poo is useful while this programme is just 100% a dead loss).

The homemade jewellery is awful tat, that probably actually costs a bit to make once you bought the glue, spray paint, jewels, feathers etc....RUBBISH...better to buy a nice 2nd hand piece at a car boot...or even better don't wear the stuff.

I'm sorry but that women is gross and wears tooooo much make up.

As for the consumer tests...utter pants...

On the subject of pants, has the presenter got around to wearing the correct size clothing and hold it in underwear yet? Because every time I've seen it, she's been wearing stuff that's easily 1 or two sizes too small. Maybe that's her version of moneysaving?

OK, against my better judgement, I'm watching it now.

Thought #1 - make the carpet wet and vacuum wet stuff up? Stupid and dangerous.

Thought #2 - they are obviously very comfortably off. Why not sell one of the cars? Or take the children out of private school if that's where they go (the accents suggest they do). Stick them in the local sink school instead and save the fees. As, according to them, it's all the same where kids' education and activities are concerned.

Thought #3 - I'm not even bothering with the perfume stuff. They don't smell the same. They smell like what they are. An acceptable but cheap perfume. They even said they aren't as good quality, scent or longevity, buy hey, they're a bargain, so they're worth it

Thought #4 - I'm guessing the Battersea stuff was done because everybody had pet insurance or qualified for PDSA treatment, so they were wasting their time there. But they'd already paid for the OK for filming, so they thought they'd continue (and why would somebody from New Zealand who wants to continue travelling in Europe be in a place that is looking for permanent homes for animals? And not wearing staff uniform? Unless they were put there by the production crew?)

Thought #5 - so, for the sake of a pound less, the lad goes to a scraggy street dance club that he presumably flies to, as it miraculously saves £30 on petrol?

Thought #6 - golf, that well known, cheap, team building activity for the masses. Perfect.

  • JoJo - I know exactly what you mean. As for spending that much on hobbies well words fail me. That sewing class for a start...... how much fabric could you buy for that AND do it yourself. With the rise of YouTube etc you can watch demos on all sorts of stuff - I'm planning to teach myself to crochet in the next couple of weeks and and all I'll be buying is a £1 ball of wool off the local market...... (already have the hook). I just don't know where this desire to be seen to be spending or else whatever activity isn't worthy comes from.

I do have to warn you all - I have seen a trailer for next week there will be afternoon shows of Superscrimpers setting people challenges a la Spendaholics...... oh been reading this have you? Yes you. The person from Superscrimpers........ :D Well get rid of those stupid consumer "tests" and give us a bit more of what we want and we might like it a bit more. Got Mr Hall's number by any chance????

What was that programme on ITV or was it C4 a couple of years ago? Three people in a different place each day. That was good too....
But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green :D

    Only just caught this.

Channel 4 - 1:45 to 2:45pm each day this week so need to set the video if you are out.

At least this is new stuff PLUS Mrs Moneypenny has taken heed about wearing clothes too small (the other Superscrimpers thread) and has bought herself a new coat.

I just watched todays and it was much better than the last few programmes. I actually found things useful. the smelly shop the lady went in does smell, I went in with a fellow MSE'er and we walked straight out . Stockport market looked good too, seems to be a bit busier than last time I went.
