I agree that the programme made out that if you're into saving money/not wasting stuff, then you're a bit of a nutter. Where's the help in that?0

I thought the 'Lady' with lots of land was rather pretentious and I can't see how the size she was she could live on a tenner a week, maybe its all that 11p a bottle hooch.
The family who had a 2k overspend I just didn't believe they were true at all.and how patronising to say to a family, who obviously like curry 'Its cheaper to make it yourself' These are supposed to be intelligent high earners, if he is a psychiatrist I think he wants his head examining if he can't work out its cheaper to have a more economical car
The lady who tarts up tea trays ,good luck to her but I wouldn't give it houseroom I have binned better stuff than she was making and as for the lady dying her knickers from grotty grey to hideous purple I think she is a waste of space .If your undercrackers are that clapped out for Gods sake buy some new ones ,even Primarks won't break the bank As my old Mum said 'Don't get knocked down by a bus in mucky underwear'
The lady who suggested reviving limp lettuce was using a bag of lettuce which must have cost her a good few bob I buy one iceberg every 2 weeks and have a round ball container that I bought years ago from Bettaware with a spike in it .You impale the lettuce on the spike and cover it with the lid and as long as you use a plastic knife to cut off what you need my lettuce is perfect I would never buy a bag of lettuce as its covered in chemicals to make it stop going brown.A bit of a disappointment really maybe next weeks will be better
I agree the idea seemed to make fun of folk who are sensible economical 'scrimpers'I think who ever commissioned this programme should log on here as see what normal folk do to make their money streeetch.By the way as much as I like pasta I don't think I could be bothered to make nettle pasta it looked disgusting Why does the presenter have to look as though she has escaped from the clutches of a Hyacinth Bucket set.I am a frugal normal person and I certainly don't look like that and I don't suppose many on this site do,or is it just to make folk laugh at us odd folk who manage to get through our day without spending more than we need to.

p.s. why do people ask for a receipt from the ATM then chuck it on the floor and how nosey is that woman picking them all up Rather worrying I thought0 -
I reckon they should have consulted our JackeO and they may have come up with something decent.Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

I have just watched this program on catch up and I can say I did not learn anything new I have learnt a lot more on here.:)
The only thing that did make me stop and think was when I sore all that rubbish piled up in the garden and I remember that befor I became os I used to leave out four or five bags of rubbish for the bin men, so that was about 208 a year, I would not like to see that lot sitting in my back garden:eek: and it has made me more determind to get it down even further

Grocery Spend Weekly Challenge (Sat-Fri):£30.50/£400 -
Personally i am not going to be fighting over the remote control to watch that programme again..
I remember the scrimpers programme years ago, and that was good..
Even if you were a total novice on how to budget and save money... this programmes wasnt even inspiring...it was too snap shot with things IYKWIM..
I personally think they have just jumped on the band wagon and and made a programme... as they know a heck of alot of people/families are now trying to live within their means...
As for the lady who was dying her well past their shelflife knickers... wouldnt it be cheaper to buy a decent pair of knickers than by the dye? as surely it is better to have few knickers of better quality than a draw full of scanky ones:rotfl: as lets face it you can live with just 2 or 3 pairs of knickers.... one on.... one handwashed and drying, and one spare...Work to live= not live to work0 -
Biggest issue I had with it was the idea of a takeaway for a family of 4 costing £10. They must be starving. We have 2 of us in the house and ours usually costs between £10 and £15. X0

I found the presenter condescending who probably doesn't know what struggle is.
As for the fat landowner bleating that she is poor Sell some of the land or start a market garden business or rent it out to people who have to wait years for an allotment.
Arn't these middle aged middle class types known as frugalistas!Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Nor iPlayer despite the fact that I buy a TV license every year because I have a house in the UK:mad::mad:
Enjoy the prog is you can watch it:D
Some american websites will only play for us ips, but you can use a "spoof" programme that tricks the website into thinking you have an ip in whatever country they allow playing in.
I have to admit OH is an IT professional an he set it up for me so I could watch some of my fav us programmes as they came out over there, but I am sure you can find details online (my 12 yr old reckons its easy there are programmes online that do all the work for you).
My son reckons all the kids at school know how to use these sort of programmes which is why despite having software on the school system to stop them going on social networking sites, they all know how to get around the system and get on facebook. School aren't interested but will chastise them if caught-there is nothing more they can do really as they have installed the recommended software. In many cases the kids know more than the teachers. This is why illegal downloads can't be policed, the technology always moves faster than the law.
