was really disappointed as I was looking forward to this show, my OH even said with excitement 'this is right up your street!'
never mind maybe it will get better but I didn't learn anything new and some of what they were telling you isn't true - you do not save a fortune having chickens!- Make 2023 in 2023 # £00/2023

Watched with DH. He thought that all of us here are like the slightly barmy people featured on the programme and now all MSEs are tarred with the same brush in his view
I am slightly p**sed off with the programme because they made a joke out of it whereas out there there are so many of us who are struggling and the programme does not contribute anything useful/original that would actually make a difference to our wallets. What a waste of an opportunity !Keep calm and carry on0 -

I've just read through all your comments, and I have to say, I agree with you. I thought it was a load of tosh, couldn't find one bit of usefull advice on it. Didn't tell me anything new. And as for dying old and worn out baggy knickers....for goodness sake woman, start wearing boys/mens pants, they last for years and never become baggy, and if you haven't got much up top don't even bother with a bra.

I enjoy reading your blog Ilona,I don't live that far from you.I prefered the Scrimpers show from the 80's it was much more interesting.0

I too was disappointed with the show, you can learn much more on MSE. I shall still carry on watching though, for the entertainment value. I did quite like the lady with the safety pins. I'm convinced she's from here!0

Hello Hadley. Glad you like my blog. I wish I had seen the previous Scrimpers, I can't see this latest one getting any better. I thought Mrs Moneypenny should have been more of a battle axe, she let the rich family off too lightly, and why did they give in without much of a fight. It was all scripted and stage managed. Nobody was real, they were all robots.

I don't think anybody will really learn from last nights programme because it didn't give enough detail on how to sort out a budget, surely the first step needed to stop an overspend.
Still I will watch next week and live in hope.

Loved the original Scrimpers with Ray Brooks. There are some clips of it on Youtube for anyone interested. Definitely old style. I remember a girl and her mum who used to frequent jumble sales and then resell all the clothing made into different items. Brill.Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01
