Was I the only one who was disappointed in this programme? I couldn't believe how daft some people were believing that they couldn't live off £50 a week for food, it was the giggling about it that I found annoying, almost like it was an impossible mission. They cheated as well when they went on holiday as they didn't appear to spend money on petrol to get there.0

I'm pushing 70 and can honestly say in my whole life I have never spent 20k on clothes They must have jolly good p/t jobs to be able to afford it I think. As for 'friendship bracelets I thought they were the sort of things that children made in the playground (we did when I was little only made them out of daisy chains )If I had to make one of those for a friend I don't think they would stay my friends for long they would have me certified and put away in a darkened room until better:)
I would rather bake someone a cake than give them a ratty old bit of ribbon and I certainly wouldn't spend £10.00 on one in a million years. Those lasses were pretty girls if somewhat kerfuddled if they think that folk give a rats a$$ about what you wear.I coulldn't tell designer from charity shop and what I've seen of designer stuff I wouldn't put on the cat to be honest.Well made, well cut, clothes will last for years and not go out of fashion.Fashion panders to young women to try to get them to spend inordinate amounts of cash of basic junk.CS clothes have obviously filled a need for millions of folk I have a friend who would never borrow a library book as she said she didn't know who had read it before her ,yet doesn't think twice about staying in a hotel and nnot thinking of who had used the bed and bedding before her stay. That chap with his squashy strawberrys just irritated me no end My friend and I both are convinced he lives alone or with his Mum as no right minded woman would put up with his daft ideas:) Superscrimppers in essance is a good idea that has gone horribly wrong as it tries to make folk like the majority of people on here look as though we are loopy. That is both insulting and downright condesending.I have been frugal for most of my life I live within my means and owe no one a tanner I eat well and have three weeks holiday a year I help my families out when needed and my friends as well.
P.S. I can't help thinking B&Q whenever I see Mrs Moneypenny's hat:):) but then I do have a warped sense of humour0 -
Morning JackieO,
Jack Spratt could eat not fat, and all that! I am quite sure we all have our own idiosyncracies when it comes to MS, whether OS or not. I don't so much think that the guy with the strawberries was so much daft for making his jam, but more so for admitting it on national TV! I think the one thing the programme does it make the audience think about the wider issues and whilst some of the crafts and tips are a touch odd, at least everyone is talking about it. It's almost as though the orange titfer is a joke to foil the serious issues involved in a lot of folk's financial affairs. Those two young girls are simply a product of the times they grew up in, and if they want to educate themselves to the point where they will earn enough to keep themselves in the somewhat dubious style they currently enjoy, then so be it. They should be able to afford a deposit on a house in their seventies, maybe!
Seriously though, I am making cut backs today and shopping so differently to years ago and certainly don't feel any worse for it. Little by little I have looked at other aspects of my life to try and improve the productivity I put into my work, which gets me more money, then the value I achieve when I pass that money on to others. It has taught me that I don't need as much as I thought I did and that sustainability begins with me, and not with government policies and green initiatives.
I hope these sort of programmes continue to create controversy for as long as they get viewers to think long enough to make small changes and improve their outlook on life.Solar Suntellite 250 x16 4kW Afore 3600TL dual 2KW E 2KW W no shade, DN15 March 14

I have to say that I enjoy watching Superscrimpers just for the odd wee tip that you pick up. Unfortunately my C4 isn't working at the mo, and for some reason it keeps freezing when I try to watch it online on 4oD. Other progs are fine online, but not SS!Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...:D:D

Some of the tips are good, i never knew you could use baking soda to clean grouting for example.
However the friendship bracelet thing was absolutely terrible:
1)you lose the ribbon that keeps strapless and shoulder gaping clothes on hangers
2) you have to find colourful ones
3) the end product looks really cheap, grotty and would probably be worth all of 10p on ebay
Do yourself a favour and bulk buy a big pack of embroidary thread for friendship bracelets!!
One good thing is i currently have bicarb on the cooker door, ready to clean off in a few hours0 -

Am just about to watch last weeks episode. Am interested by the tomato sauce recipe. As has been said it may not be as cheap as some you can buy but if freezable it will be ideal for me as I don't have it very often and as a childminder I don't like to give some of the shop bought ones to the children so a home-made healthy version will be great for me. As has been said not cheaper but will do for me hopefully. Kate :hello:0
