Thanks everyone, I went with Tesco mainly because I have shopped with them before online and they allow you to get the delivery sent to a different address and wasn't sure if I'd be able to do that with a first order at Waitrose.

Have ordered the following and in the substitution boxes next the 'Finest 'stuff have made notes asking them to subsitute for a 'posh' alternative if not available. I tried to get things to go with each other so new pots and veg to go with the steak, clotted cream and jam to go with the scones etc

I can make changes up to the early hours the night before so if anyone has any 'must haves' that I should add then please post ideas :) In true MSE style I took advantage of BOGOF's and used a £10 off voucher :D Have also put a note for delivery that if she tries to send them away saying she hasn't ordered a Tesco shop then just to ignore her :D

    Love it. :rotfl:

I take it you have a plan for making sure she's in to receive the order during the 2 hour time slot?

Your order sounds absolutely yummy. I'm sure she'll enjoy it.

I think it's lovely, really thoughtful, your list seems to have a broad range of things that will keep her going. As merlinormartin said, how about some magazines? Woman, Woman's own, Bella, Chat, Take a Break are all under £1 (I think) and probably well suited to a 60+ year old.

I was a surprise later in life for my parents so I'm much younger than my Mum but I love those type of magazines, does that mean I'm old :rotfl:

I had forgot the magazines and have also added some breakfast-y type foods. Have just amended order and added:

    Magazines
    Finest bacon
    Organic mushrooms
    Real butter
    Branston Baked beans

    .

If you don't yet have a plan, perhaps you could tell her you are going to call her at that time, so she needs to be in..

Failing that, you may just need to be upfront and say her pressie is being delivered then, but not what the pressie is...
    Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!
