    I guess my post was not the only one that you misread this early morning ;)

    @Grumbler,

    On a second read @Guys Dads post could very well be taken as sarcastic, the more I read it the more I think that you are correct. I guess it is the ;);) at the end.

    Sorry @Guys Dad.

    @Guys Dad,

    Far from it, it was excellent.

    At that time of the morning I was convinced you were being serious! It was only after I realised that I had read Grumblers post wrong that I read your post again. Very humorous and well written.

    Still no reply from Vodafone Web Team!

    Did anyone succesfully apply for and activate a premium rate SMS bar by doing the above as suggested by the Vodafone representative?

    Update:
    I have managed to get this done myself. I haven't yet confirmed it is indeed in effect but Vodafone has assured me they have enabled it.

    Hi Everyone

    I can see that there appears to be some confusion around this subject.

    The only way to add a Premium Rate SMS bar to your account would be either by speaking to Customer Service or alternatively you can contact us via the link Espi provided and we can add this for you.

    There is no short code available for customers to add this service.

    The info grumbler has provided - explains how to stop SMS's being sent from an individual premium rate service. Texting back STOP will only stop that particular company sending the SMS's.

    Nanny2Nurse - Feel free to get in touch via the link above and I'll be happy to check the bar has been added correctly.

    Thanks

    This was a sarcastic post. What you (Vodafone) suggest very often doesn't work despite you saying 'simply'.

    I would expect to see something like this instead:
    Send a text reply to the text service with the word STOP. If you are getting more than one type of text alert, sending STOP ALL will cancel all services from that sender.
    If this does not help contact Vodafone CS that will help you to stop the texts and refund the stolen money.

    For the record, Sukhi was very helpful and activated the premium rate sms bar on my account as requested, using the email method above.

    I also replied regarding the costs incurred by the unsolicited short code texts I received and another C.S. rep. "as a gesture of goodwill", reimbursed the cost of the three messages I received.

    Many thanks to both.

    =======

    Also for the record, neither 'STOP' or 'STOP ALL' replies to 'Tanla Mobile / Adbuyer' were actioned. On both occassions (text 1 & 2), further unsolicited, chargeable (to me), adult-related short code texts (from 81404) were received.

    I am hoping this will be the end of this rather stressfull episode for me, fingers crossed.

    I called vodafone this morning and requested that these messages be barred from my account which has been scammed out of £800 in less than 1 month...I was advised that this could not be done by vodafone, the end result was a complete bar on my number while this issue is resolved....go figure :(

    As we have posted in this thread Vodafone still deny it's account holders the right to protect their account by telling them that they cannot bar short codes.

    Any comments Vodaphone WEB Relations Team?:A

    @Bex,

    Call them again!

    As they have already posted here, they were 'unsure' rolleyes.gif:
    I’m unsure why you would have come across people within the business that don’t know about it....
    I don't think that their confidence increased since then.
