Hidden houses for sale?

Try putting an advert in local shops round the area you are looking for stating your requirements.
In the late 1990's my parents saw such an advert in a local shop and responded to it. Turned out the woman who put in the advert was having similar problems in finding property and was very keen to move to the area to be close to her mother in a nearby nursing home.
She came round and liked the house. A price was agreed and hey presto a move was sorted. Whilst my parents did not have the house on the market they were thinking about the possibility of a move if they got a good enough offer which they did.
It just illustrates that just because you havent got a for sale board outside your door that it doesnt mean that you might be open to the possibility of a sale0 -
Try Zoopla.co.uk and click on home values, put in your required area and you may find some Tempt me properties - not necessarily on the market yet, but owners looking to sell.0

We are in rented accommodation, as we sold last Nov. and thought renting would make us attractive buyers.
However, the market is sooo slow, viewed 1 property in last 4 months and very little coming up.
Are we missing properties by just using the conventional website searches?
Is it worth paying for an agency to search??
Our budget is around £600,000.
thanks!!
I think it is good to have that agency to search for you if you will pay them good. You can just make sure to choose good one.0 -
Leaflet
Put an advert in local shops
Put a wanted advert in local paper
check paper on property day and ensure you have contacted ALL agents (not just those in the area).
Visit agents in area at least every other week.
Try local organisations (in villages there isn't much gets past the Parish Clerk!)
If it's an unusual property for the area (and it sounds as if it is) then paying someone to find it won't get a result if there isn't one there - and if one comes up you'll pay them for something you could have done yourself.
My most deeply felt advice would be to broaden your requirements.
We were searching for an older building, a renovation project - and have ended up with a 1978 bungalow! - because we loved it when we got there.
Perhaps you don't need 1/3rd acre - perhaps you could buy a cheaper house and get a caravan for weekends on a really rural site - or buy an acre or two outside the village - or buy a bit of the field next door - or get a couple of allotments (good luck with that!)........... or perhaps you could buy a 2 bed and extend it, or knock it down - or buy a building plot................. or end up with a bungalow and a commitment to drive the kids to school because you are out of catchmentStill, it means I don't have to get a job I guess..
What I mean is that if you open your scope of properties you may find something that suits you better. So I'd start looking at EVERYTHING in that area. If the top of your list is the area, well, view everything in that area and see how you could fit to the property. If the top of your list is 1/3rd acre because you have goats well then I can see 20 ways around that............ and 20 ways around getting more bedrooms.............. yep, I'd stick with viewing everything that comes up where you want to be and work on the rest later.0 -

That depends on where the OP is looking.
RM themselves claim to have 80% of the market countrywide (which means 20% of the available houses AREN'T on it), and in my corner of Scotland, they have less than 40% of the available properties - which means the majority are on other sites.0 -
For £600k couldn't you buy a plot with planning and get one built? You get what you want then. Are you looking at local land?0

That made me laugh!!!
I sold 3 years ago and went into rented. I've been looking for land ever since with a budget up to £400K just for the land. So far not a dickybird. I admit things do seem to be picking up a litle with respect to land but, unless you are well outside the South, building plots for sale are a very scarce commodity.0 -
If are searching for a new house then it is better to take the help of real estate agents. They will help you to identify unpublished house. Make sure that the broker is experienced in the field of real estate.0
