13 year old damaged my car

Do you have legal cover with your car (or, if not, home) insurance? If so, use it and ask their advice. Also if the guilty family has home insurance it should actually be covered by this under 3rd party liability or something. So you may be able to use your legal cover to liase with their household insurance company to get the money.
Home insurance won't pay out a claim for damage on a car.The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
Also, in anticipation of the "insured isn't it?" statement. Be sure to say either it isn't covered for vandalism (you could be 3rd party only) or say the excess is equal to the repair costs so you'd still be down £500 which their little darling best be ready to pay for.
5t.
No, the answer should be, "I'll be suing for the excess and the increased costs in premium over the next five years."The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

which is why I asked about uninsured loss recovery cover....my understanding is that this would seek to recover/replace the cost of these increases from the other party0 -

Yeah, it's hard to do that though because the insurance company will probably not admit to it.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

to be honest I think they do admit it...insurance based on risk, risk increases because you have had an incident (namely some kid who has damaged car). The uninsured recovery team should be able to work out the cost and seek to recover this.
Either way I would go round to the parents, say you have had a quote and what it is, tell them you are going to put it through the insurance to claim from them or they can settle directly with you.
I would put claim through insurance (but then I have a very small excess), by the time the extra costs have been added the parents will wish they had delt with op directly:beer:. Not sure why op doesnt want to share with us how the car was damaged but I guess that up to them0
