When I was a kid the local tip used to be open so you could have a rummage as you were dropping stuff off. Remember finding a hockey stick I used for school. Shame it's manned these days with 10 foot drop containers to chuck your stuff in. I'd probably be down there every day!0 -

don't know why they won't let you take stuff, surely its recycling ? they could donate the money to a different charity every month, seems a waste to me...0 -

Our local tip has a large area (some of it undercover) where all the decent stuff is on display for sale. Never been in to have a browse to see what the prices are like though.0

I went to view an auction today and they had an item similar to something i bought at a different auction last year. I paid around £18 with buyers premium, the new auction have a valuation of £150 - £200 on the one they are selling.
I have an appointment to have mine valued next week, although I think mine is slightly plainer so I expect it is worth less. I've also got to phone the auctioneer next week after the sale and he will tell me what their one sold for. I also told them about my remaining weapons I have, and they will sell them fo rme as well and the suggested prices are much higher than I aquired them for, so fingers crossed!

I purchased brand new with tags, baby clothes for 50p a outfit/item. Some where big brands like next. Got 4 of them in total, I sold a girls snowsuit for £6.50, next boys tshirt and shorts for a fiver. The rest went from £2-3 each.
Quite a nice profit
I also purchased some wine goblets and champagne flutes (plastic ones, 4 per pack) up in asda during a clearance, for 20p a pack. So far I've sold 10 packs at £2-3 a time plus postage  I'm putting em on as an auction at 99p starting bid, and people seem to like bidding on em. I do state in the advert they were from asda. I don't state they were clearance though0 -
I have bought some tie racks for 65p and sold them for £2, a knitting bag for 50p and sold for 5 pounds. Not a lot of money, but i love selling things on ebay!0

Well, I've got a piece of [STRIKE]junk[/STRIKE] oops, I mean highly collectable thingy on ebay that was thrown in when I bought something else at auction. It literally was left on the side and the auctioneer accused me (in a friendly way) of trying to leave my junk behind and insisted I took it with me as it formed part of my lot.
Bunged it on ebay with a good description but also with the proviso I didn't know what it was..and i have 26 watchers..quite a record for me. I only just realised it is on ebid for a BIN at £1 , so I have hurried to remove it from there just in case it takes off on ebay.*
What's the betting though it goes unsold at £1.50 :rotfl:
* edited to add that on ebid it had the most page views of anything I have ever had in my shop, 7 page views when I removed it.
Rude to quote my own post I know, so apologies!
However my collectable item made £25 in the end and in the past few days had well over 30 watchers. I break out in a cold sweat when I think that it was on Ebid for several weeks at a £1 BIN as at that point I wasn't even sure I would bother listing it on ebay.
The item was effectively free, as it was thrown in on another auction lot which I have already sold for a profit.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
