Back from a wonderful holiday to the Shetlands. Arrived back home Thursday evening, spent most of yesterday putting washing through!
I appear to have gained 2 kg in the 2 weeks I was away, now back to where I was in November. So, back to the drawing board.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.

Read this in the Daily Mail today:
Carbs could help you lose weight
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-1386993/Forget-Atkins--carbs-help-LOSE-weight.htmlFor years, dieters have berated themselves for every bite of bread or pasta that has passed their lips.
But tucking into carbs could actually help us lose weight, according to scientists.
An explosive book that claims bread, pasta, pizza and chips are the ingredients for a perfect body is threatening to consign the Atkins diet and other high-protein regimes to history.
In their study of 4,451 volunteers, it emerged that the slimmest ate the most carbs

I've just read this, it sounded quite interesting, unfortunately I'm not a fan of the Daily Mail (total BS!), and this article is an excellent example of this...For years, dieters have berated themselves for every bite of bread or pasta that has passed their lips.

It then shows a low carb meal plan!!! Lots of protein and salad, with the odd banana or bit of oatmeal thrown in here and there.
And finishes by saying...‘But it’s got to be interpreted quite carefully. People shouldn’t think they can eat a big bowl of pasta and half a loaf of white bread.’
But isn't that exactly what they told us we could eat at the beginning of the article?!?

And finishes by saying...
That quote was actually made by Anna Raymond:Anna Raymond, from the British Dietetic Association, said: ‘I’m pleased someone has finally advocated carb consumption.
‘Of course Atkins-type diets give results but in the long-term cutting out carbs means you metabolise using different processes that are harmful.
‘[The Carb Lover’s Diet] is basically a low GI diet. Resistant starch is fibre so it’s harder to break down and can suppress appetite.
If you feel fuller for longer, you eat less.
‘But it’s got to be interpreted quite carefully. People shouldn’t think they can eat a big bowl of pasta and half a loaf of white bread.’

hey BB. Hope you're ok, it will be summer soon and that always makes things better. As for moi, i'm still waiting for easyjet, as i am still in their holding pool. Sooooooo annoying, i just wanna get on with something new now.
Margaret - glad you had such a lovely holiday. Hopefully, as the weight went on quickly, it will come off quickly. Are you still waiting for the specialst dietitician appointment?
Victory - I'm glad you have had your 1st counselling session. It will be hard talking of painful things, but my own experience is that by unpacking the painful stufff, you expose it and can learn to understand yourself and your reactions and feelings more and that helps time then heal it better.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -

Eric: Well done! I couldn't even do that that quickly! I do 3k on the cross trainer in like 25 mins!!!! haha. I never run in the gym, i get embarassed because i know i'd have to stop after 5 mins and look like a right loser.

Brightonbelle, thank you for the kind words. Yes, the dietician's appointment is mid-July. If my weight starts to go down again I may well cancel before then. I doubt they'll like my using full-fat milk and creamy yogurt!!! I've adopted Eric's thoughts on dietary fat.
I read that DM article - they don't half print some rubbish.
"An explosive book that claims bread, pasta, pizza and chips are the ingredients for a perfect body is threatening to consign the Atkins diet and other high-protein regimes to history."
All those items listed are highly-processed, white flour mainly, and I've discovered that it's those, and things made from white flour and white sugar, that have been my downfall.
I have never set out to do the Atkins diet or anyone else's diet, just to get into a healthy eating pattern which is sustainable in the long-term and which I've discovered from experience will suit my body and the way it works. It's quite likely that my increased weight over the last 2 weeks has been from indulging a little bit in the home baking I was offered by those lovely friendly hospitable Shetlanders.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.

I have been starving hungry today! Maybe I haven't eaten enough as I don't usually feel so hungry.
Breakfast: Whey protein shake, made with soya milk and half a banana
Lunch: 2 slices of bacon griddled with mushrooms and courgettes fried
Snack: Food doctor seeds and a small apple
Snack: Slice of ham, 1 dark rye ryvita spread with Philadelphia
Dinner: Will be a kebab, no pitta0
