Oooh, new thread.
Weigh in day tomorrow. Kinda nervous. Completed day 44 of Insanity today and went on the cross trainer too for 30mins. Hope tomorrows weigh in reflects my efforts, but if I don't get a loss, I won't be too disappointed, as I can actually feel my arms getting more toned.
Just wish i'd lose my huge thighs, arghh.
EDIT: Fred, haven't posted in a while on the other thread, but can you please put me down for next months 5lbs challenge and for Southern Stunners.0 -
Thanks fredsnail for starting the new Lose Weight thread.
I've closed the previous thread and I'll leave it sticky for a while............then I'll unstick it.

Matryoshka wrote: »Question:
How long after eating do you wait before drinking water? Or does it not matter in the slightest?
Thanks
three things here with water
being thirsty can feel exactly the same as being hungry so if you are thirsty and you drink you will remove that desire
drinking before or during a meal has been shown several times to have no affect on hunger, MRI scans show the body drains the water extremely fast, its not in there long enough to trigger the full hormone
however blending food in water (ie soup) has also been shown to keep you full for up to an hour longer than eating and drinking the same food and water as the body treats all of the liquid as a solid0 -
Gained 0.9lbs. I'm now 66kg.
I know I said I wouldn't be disappointed in the numbers on the scales, but I'm a bit gutted really. I know I've made a few bad choices in terms of food, nothing extreme, and never things like chocolate, crisps, biscuits etc. so I really have no idea where I've went wrong. Ever since I started Insanity, my weight loss hasn't been consistant, whereas before I'd always have a loss every week with the rare STS. I'm not sure if this means I'm gaining muscle, though I can see proof that I am. And although I've always said I care more about losing inches than lbs, I guess I've always taken it for granted that I've always had a loss. Arghh, but you know what, onwards and forwards. I'm going to finish Insanity strong, because guess what? Afterwards, I've decided to repeat month 2 of Insanity all over again, with P90x (not necessarily alongside). For now, my goal is to get to minimum 60kg by the end of June. We'll see if it's doable. The first thing I'm changing is my weigh in day. Gonna change it back to Monday lol. I know it wont be accurate next Monday, but don't mind too much as long as it's a loss. And I know it probs wont make much of a difference, but back when I had it on Mondays, it was mostly always a loss.
I wanna get one of those precision scales that show fat % loss, as that way I wont be too upset at the scale if I know my body fat has gone down.0 -
71.7 kg today
+ 0.3 kg from last week.
I'm not too worried about this - it's how it happens with me.
Have been doing the low carbs. 96.7g on Monday, 109g yesterday.
I'm likely to be bouncing around in the 71s for a while. Well, OK. At least I'm not in the 74s, 73s or even the 72s.
Clothes are not logical. I had 2 size 18 smart jackets that I bought last summer. One, not worn or worn only once. I've taken that one to the dress agency in our little market town, this is a place where they sell your unworn or little-worn good quality clothes. The other one, another size 18, still fits me.
Just sent away 2 bras to the charity where they can use good-quality bras. Now wearing 40D but I can do it up on the last hook, the inner one, so next thing will be that size is going to be too big!
At Rochford Dress Agency they are qualified to fit bras, so I may go there next.
Bought some casual trousers from Lands End 16-18. Too big. Too roomy around the tummy and rear. Need their next size 14-16. However I'm wearing a tailored pair of trousers today (David Nieper) and they fit me. I wore them last summer when I weighed 2 kg more than I do now!!!
We're away on holiday from Sunday, back on the 13th or 14th. We'll have the laptop with us but I shan't be able to weigh.
Going to see the bluebells this morning because they'll have gone by the time we get back.

Morning! New shiny thread too
Well I'm completely confused with the days this week, so thought today was Tuesday. Therefore, I've forgotten to weigh in this morning, and have now had over a pint of tea, so I'm not going to bother now. So, Fred can you put me down for -0.5lb loss please, as I STS at my SW weigh-in on Monday, but I forgot to report my loss last week on here anyway. (hope that made sense).
On the knees front, I've been a martyr to my knees for the past 20 years. Walking down the very deep spiral staircase at Covent Garden Underground, when the lift was out of order, (almost 200 steps) in my early 20's amongst a very large crowd, so I couldn't go at a slower pace, put paid to my poor knees. I guess it was the better alternative to walking UP the staircase, which is coronary inducing in even the healthiest. I take it easy when exercising them, but am now able to do squats with weights, cycling isn't a problem, and I power-walk uphill on the treadmill. If I get any discomfort I ease off any exercise that has any impact on them, and focus on other target areas of the body instead.
Jess, it does sound to me that you are carrying an injury, and the rest periods between exercising are helping it to heal, but then you are potentially exacerbating any healing by continuing to exercise your knees before they've healed enough? I'd recommend you visit your GP to check what might be going on, and try to stick to other kinds of exercise in the meantime. Do you go to a gym, or can you access a swimming pool? Doing weights in the gym can be just as hard work as a cardio workout, and the plus side is that your body continues to burn calories for hours afterwards, unlike cardio work. Swimming is a great all over exercise, with the benefit of supporting the body. If you do any weights work, remember to warm up/cool down afterwards.
I'm immersed in paperwork and research again at the moment, so I've had little time for the gym myself. If I could get time off from being a parent I'd have the time, but that's a full-time job in itself anyway with my 4 boys. I have a corporate commission coming up next month, so I've been sourcing materials to go with that, but I'm very excited that it's part of a press launch in London, so who knows where that might lead? As with starting any new business, I'm full of lots of self-doubt, as well as feeling like I'm wandering around it the dark, but I'm getting there, slowly but surely. It explains why I don't get to pop in here very often though, and my diet has gone on the back burner too. I've not been gaining, but I know I could have lost a fair few lbs too. Anyhoo, I hope to find the balance. One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing

Hey Everyone,
Well I'm reporting a 2lb gain, which is not a surprise! MUST TRY HARDER! Hopefully a new thread, a new month, and a new challenge will help give me a bit of motivation.
Fred, can you put me down for the 5lb a month challenge and put me on the Buckfast Beauties team. As for the exercise challenge, I would quite like to either lift some kind of weight, or cycle a certain distance.0 -
Morning all!
Thanks for the shiny new thread, fred
I am very cross, just weighed myself (granted, after a cup of tea and a sudden realisation that it's not tuesday!!) and I've put on another 2lb!!
This means I am now 11st 6!! When I joined this thread I was actually about a stone lighter!!!:mad::mad:
I simply have not been making the effort food-wise - I remember losing a good few pounds last year but since then work has been making me so miserable, no matter what I say or do I am still reaching for comfort food every 5 minutes.
Exercise has helped me stay positive but the balance has clearly been out still, can't believe I've gained SO much!!
I think it's time to go back to the basics and do some proper cal counting. It worked for me a few yrs ago and I got down to 9st 12. But then I had a job I liked and that kept me busy and away from the fridge. And I went to the gym 3 times a week. My knee is still killing me
I am trying desperately to get a new job, but I think if I lost a few extra lbs it would help me in my search, better self esteem, more positivity, etc.
Sorry to start the day with a rant.
Fred - I am 11st6  and would like to join the Southern Stunners! (even though I feel much more like a southern slob right now!)Betty B: The Eternal Procrastinator....
