I used to use a strimmer on mine and it worked fine but slow, I now use a lawnmover. It is a little hard to move but it is much quicker. A small hover mower might do the trick.

I think Qualcast still do a hand mower which might be ideal - we had one when we had a similar sized piece of lawn in our old house. It does take a bit of effort but actually was probably less hassle than getting out all the cable etc doing the lawn and then winding it all back again. We got ours secondhand out of the paper for £15!

We've now gone to the other extreme - corner plot detached house with lawn on all four sides - takes me over an hour to mow it now with a big electric job (that the previous owner left for us as she was going into sheltered accom!). Unfortunately there isn't enough of it in one run to justify one of those ride on jobs.
