Oh give the OP a break -at 2.30 am and sleep deprived she's entitled to be more than miffed.

Couldn't agree more. If you book a room in a hotel even as low down the chain as Travelloadge then it is reasonable to expect a decent night's sleep. If the hotel can't provide that because they don't have adequate security, allow anyone in etc. then they should apologise and refund the price of the room. Maybe the receptionist could not have done a lot more but the management of the hotel/chain can e.g. employ the right people, have better security.

OP...Try escalating and/or complaining to Guy Parsons, Travelodge Chief Executive, via sending him an email to guy.parsons@travelodge.co.uk.

Good luck and hope this helps.

You won't get travelodge prices then which is their main business model (cheap).

You are entitled to some sleep
Really? Because reading some of these other peoples responses, it seems like nobody is entitled to any sleep when they stay at a travelodge. A roof yes, but sleep no.
earplugs
This will be taken on board in future!

For all those choosing to ignore elements of my postings time and time again - i wonder whether these same people would have the same opinion they do now if they were to stay in a travelodge (ignoring the fact many say they don't/wont) & be deprived of sleep due to mindless idiots. I highly doubt it. It's very easy to sit at your keyboard typing away your replies of "it's in the travelodge's T&Cs that you should get no sleep" when you've had a good nights sleep yourself. Try seeing if you have that view once you've been deprived of sleep due to others though. I doubt you would.

What did i expect the receptionist to do? Well i've said it before, possibly more than once, but for those who didn't spot it first time around .... YES i know she turfed them out when i complained. This was a positive i never said it wasn't. I expected that 6 wasted lads should not be let into the place in the early hours making a racket when they've not paid for a room. I expect something done there. I also expect for her to step in sooner - when we were stood in the reception, you could hear the racket clear as day. A bit of common sense wouldn't go amiss, rather than waiting for a complaint to come in.

It's basic isn't it. But will you choose to ignore the above now i've answered it directly? Possibly.

why did i take bags to the car? Because we had quite a few and too many to cart to another room in 1 trip. So whilst making a trip to the reception, we figured we'd stick some in the boot, go get the rest & then head to another room. Do i need to explain myself & this very very minor element to you? No. Is the bag moving important to this story? No. Are you using it to be a !!!!!!? Yes.

For those who've genuinely been of help - sirmarcus, giraffe, duchy (& others who've replied with common sense helpful responses) then thank you very much.

For the others, i hope the next time you stay in any sort of hotel (travelodge, premier inn or the Hilton if the previous 2 aren't classy enough for you) that you can't get a moments sleep during your stay & let's see you be so flippant about it then.

How did you get on this morning anyway

Sorry i was just going through thanking the people who didn't waste their & my time in this thread & realised whilst replying to the nonsense, i missed your question.

This morning was fun - the gf had luckily (for her) accidentally left earplugs in her bag from a camping do so she had some. I didn't.
8:30 she wakes & offers me her plugs, so i took them & that was me until 10:40.
However, she said she couldn't get back to sleep. The girls were making a right racket banging doors, shouting from room to room.

Ok some people may say beyond 8:30 is an awful time to lay in bed, but when you've not had a weekend off work for 2 months & you've just been deprived of sleep, you need to catch up on some! I personally don't like laying in, but it had to be done today.

Anyway, then an irish family were letting their kids run up and down the corridor banging about.

I know it's the travelodge, and it's cheap. I keep saying i don't expect the world, but basic consideration of others isn't much to ask for. The noise CAN be heard from reception, so they should do something about it, end of.

We go to Newcastle Travelodge on the quayside often and have never had to put up with what you did.

Good luck.
As i've said before, i've been staying in travelodges for 8 years now & they've all been fine until now. So these comments of "its a travelodge, what do you expect" dont wash with me.

I don't expect crystal chandeliers, jeeves to bring me my breakfast etc etc etc. All i want is a clean room where i can sleep & i've always been able to get this in the travelodges i've stayed in, even kilmarnock.

This time was horrible though - ripped bedding & then this episode.

Don't Travelodge have some kind of good night guarantee? I know Premier Inn do and I have had a few free nights due to inconsiderate oiks running around and screaming in the middle of the night. To be honest work pay for the room I'd much rather have a good kip but if yiu need to call reception about nuisance guests they automatically refund the room.

I know I have written this on this forum before but a good way to get revenge on noisy people in hotels is to make sure they are wide awake when you are, I find a good bang on their door works or if they are next door leave the TV on as loud as you can or set the alarm to go off in 20 mins so they just get back to sleep. Some people are anti-social and sadly they don't care one bit about others as long as they can squeal and bang doors they are fine...

I'll be fine, I would have drunk enough to sleep through it. Actually getting in at 2 am's a bit early for me, I'll have probably missed all that and would have a nice quiet sleep :).

Again, thank you for this post.

It seems that many within this thread don't really know what they're talking about. A few have been helpful & i've thanked them as such. Guy Parsons seemed to think that it wasn't acceptable either (unlike some of the members here) & has issued a refund for the whole stay, not just one night which i'm very happy with.

Just wanted to post back with the conclusion on the whole episode. So to all those who didn't waste their time with nonsense replies - again, thank you.

I had similar hassle in Newcastle from inconsiderate guests. I complained at the time it was going on, then in the morning took their promotional card from in the room which guarantees you a good night's sleep. I pointed out that I hadn't had one, and the staff on reception gave me a full refund then and there. I think Travelodge need to have it pointed out to them again and again that if you book a hotel room, it's the bed and the night's sleep you're buying. If they allow an element of their customers to behave in a rowdy way that deprives other guests of that element of the purchase they need to be accountable. I think more of us should do this. Every time you put up with it, you make it more likely it will happen again. I think they should throw out and then enforce a ban on oiks who think it's ok to behave in a way which is so inconsiderate, and they should do it every single time.

Yes, I am sure you are right.

If you ask questions on this forum, or indeed any forum on the internet, all you are doing is inviting opinions.
There is a chance that those opinions might be right.
The converse is also true.

If you don't expect to get contradicting replies, then my advice is do not post.
