A family member has made harassing calls to this particular person using my phone? i'm on contract. Can i get into trouble because the contracts on my name?

The person who's being harassed now thinks its me, and has reported it to the police- will the police access my phone records and arrest me?

They won't believe me if i tell them it was a family member? will they?

Thanks- (and sorry if it's in the wrong category)

Well the calls will definitely be traced back to you, that much is obvious. How to prove you didn't make them might be fun, hopefully you don't sound like the culprit :rotfl:

Get the police to ring the phone when your in custody ...when someone else answers I'm sure they will believe someone else is using you phone ;)

Unless you've got previous you will only get a suspended sentance anyway

"Custody" and "suspended sentence" - sounds very reassuring.
If I were the OP and was seriously worried about this, I'd contact the police preventively.
Stupid people that are incapable of picking a PAYG sim for this sort of calls and don't care about you don't deserve leniency event if they are your relatives.
Anyway, the police definitely will not take any actions if the victim doesn't complain.

The OP says the victim has already gone to the Police ......I'm quite sure the OP will have no probs as it's standard MO for serial phone harassers to borrow other peoples mobiles to make calls due to their own number being recognised by the victims.

If you are telling the truth then you have little to worry about, there must have been a heck of an amount of calls for the police to action the complaint as you describe, why can't the family member use their own phone?

You probably won't get arrested but may get cautioned if you don't buck your ideas up :o

I did contact my network provider, and they put a note on the system to say that i've reported unauthorized calls- dunno if the police will do anything...

Does anyone know how i could FIND OUT whether the police have requested my phone records?.

And if the 'person who's been harassed' thinks its me, and has told the police this, is it enough 'evidence' for them to access the call records or arrest me.

The family member is quite young- although what she did was very very bad, i can't get her into trouble... so what else should i do?

    Thanks...

Oh and the family member withheld the calls so the number was on private...
