After tax? And you begrudge your mum the current £200 you give her?
If you are not a troll then you are a world class bitch. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -

You poor, poor love.
When I first started work my Mum used to take my pay packet and give me spending money.
40 years on, we are still very close.
I wouldn't like to wonder what your relationship with your Mum will be like in 40 years.0 -
Well the gas bill was for £172 but she only paid £20 so somehow she is manipulating the bills. My friend said £20 is more like what it should be for a 3 bed house. my mum said it was because she had overpaid in summer by direct debit so it reduced the amount due - but she said the actual cost is about £72 a month.
No I'm not a troll! I just expected you to be more fair. I'm her child, not her husband. I live here, Its my home. Sorry if she has kids then expects to make a profit.0 -
Your friend is a clueless muppet who you should stop listening to!
We have a 2 bed and we pay £98 a month for gas and electric, and that is with a lot of shopping around and paying it by direct debit. She's not manipulating them, it's just the way gas payments work out if you are paying in advance, sometimes you overpay, sometimes under.
Seriously, £400 isn't making a profit from you and you;re not a child anymore.
If you don't pay you won't live there and it won't be your home, because it will be repossessed! Wake up.0 -
Ok - but I still dont see why I should pay her mortgage! thats just wrong.0

I never expected such hate!

Cost of raising a child to the age of 21 is roughly £200 000. There is you and your brother. Thats not far shy of 1/2 a million.
I have a small 2 bed flat, no gas so just an electricity bill. It is over £100 a month, that is with me being really careful and turning things off at the wall that aren't in use.
She will NOT be making a profit. Ok, you say you're not a troll, but you are living in cloud cukoo land. Your perception is clearly skewed by that giant chip on your shoulder.
Your 'friends' who know all about the world of finances. Do any of them actually live on their own and pay their own bills just out of interest? The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -
Because it's the house you live in. Look at it this way, if you didn't live there she could buy a smaller place and have a smaller mortgage. It costs her money for you to have a bedroom.
You aren't a child anymore, she has no obligation to house you.0 -

£20 gas bill for a three bedroom house? £20 a week, maybe. Your friend is a dunce.
If she has been paying by direct debit at a set amount and the amount she has been paying has exceeded the annual total then, yes, she will be paying less per month. This isn't manipulating the bills at all.
She isn't profiting off of you. Do you have any idea of the thousands of pounds it costs the average person to raise one child? :rotfl:
You must be a troll because otherwise you are absolutely clueless about the way the real world works and should therefore spend more time trying to learn basic things that moaning about mean ol' mummy asking for less than 10% of your wage to keep a roof over your head.
But yes, I am leaning towards troll here...0
