'Can't stand'.... where does this come from?0

'Less' instead of 'fewer'
'Number' instead of 'amount'0 -
Just thought of another one! Ever heard people referring to different items/choices as "number A", "number B", etc...? Either call them A, B, C, etc. or "number 1", "number 2", "number 3"!0

You've reminded me of one: assumptions in advertising.
I've made a thread about this before, but stuff like, "Everyone's favourite celebrity" or "The IDEAL gift for mother's day."
How dare they assume that I and people who I buy gifts for are the same as the lowest common denominator.
"Mum's shop at Iceland."
Not my Mum, she knows how to cook a proper meal. Also I found the slogan to be slightly sexist.0 -
The increased usage in football commentating/punditry of the word "unplayable" to meant almost the exact opposite constantly irritates me.0

People who claim to be 'chillaxing' should be taken out and shot, along with anyone (and I mean anyone) over the age of 15 who continues to use text language.
I also find it annoying when prices are read as solo numbers rather than a sum... 'A new sofa for just two nine nine...' No. No you illiterate scumbag, the sofa costs two hundred and ninety nine pounds. Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....

Aaaaaagh, and misuse of apostrophes is one of the things that irritates me the most too.
I beg the forgiveness of everyone who read that post and now must ask to be excused so I can go and beat myself repeatedly about the head.0 -
Oh please don't beat yourself up Dr. I am sure we've all done it at times.
I'm glad you took it in the spirit it was intended0
