Warning about Love Film

I've just had a free period with Blockbuster and the service is not the best. They don't seem to have many copies of DVD's. Before cancelling the membership, delete your list of required DVD's that way they cannot send anymore!0

More unhappy LOVEFILM customers!
I was with Tesco and then the minute LF took over the service deteriorated. I was on the 2 disc deal but I've dropped it down to 1 now because the turnaround is so poor. I'll give it a bit longer on the 1 disc and if things don't improve I'll cancel.
I also have a 3 disc deal with Blockbuster (started when I first became unhappy with LF) and so far they've been fab! You even get a reply when you email their customer services - how cool is that! Hey you might say I'm getting excited over nothing but LF don't seem to reply EVER!
Mind you I've read posts from people who don't like BB. Best thing is to find one you like and stick with it. I find rental better than buying because I don't end up with a houseful of DVDs I'll never watch again unless I take them round to a mate's house.Don't grow up. Its a trap!

i,ve been with Lovefilm for about 4 months and had no real problems and i easily go through 5-6 dvds a week ( tv show multiple dvd sets can really bump up numbers) i find the best way with them is not to add too much dross just too fill out your list.
limit it to about 20 and you get the good new films reserved for you when they get returned if you have less than your maxium disks/
as regards to TV show dvds it is a annoyance that you have to put the disk you want on the list one at a time or risk being sent later disks out of sequence.Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -
I signed up for the Tesco DVD rental two week trial and have been charged the monthly payment after cancelling before the trial finish date.
My trial was due to finish on 11/12/06, I put their DVD's in the post on 8/12/06 and e-mailed to cancel on 9/12/06. They said the DVD's did not arrive back until 12/12/06. I e-mailed several times trying to get my money back with no success. Eventually I managed to get a phone number to speak to somebody and found I was dealing with Lovefilm.I still did not get my money back.
While getting DVD's during the trial the speed of getting and returning DVD's had been fine(Tesco e-mailing me and DVD arriving day after.Me sending DVD back and two days later a new DVD arriving) until I actually cancelled my account and amazingly it takes them four days to receive DVD's back using their first class post envelopes.
Does this sound like a scam to anybody?
I will try and get the money back from my credit card company.0 -
Unfortunately Denzil the time margin you left was never going to be enough. When I cancel something I always allow extra time eg a week for something to arrive back. It might be annoying to get less than the 2 weeks full service but if you wanted it to be totally free then sometimes you have to be prepared to lose a little bit too. Personally I think these companies rely on the fact that people want as much as possible for free since that is human nature. Why not uncancel your cancellation and just belong for a month then cancel well within the notice period and delete all DVDs from your list so they can't send you any more. At least that way you get something for your money. To be honest I don't fancy your chances at getting anything back from your credit card company. There's a bit in the T & C about if DVDs aren't returned in time you get charged for the next rental period.
Your choice but that's what I'd do.
