Just noticed the wording of the 7 Day Shop ad for the camera bag:

    normal RRP, £19.99; 7 Day's sale price, £17.99; 7 Day's usual price: £24.99.

So, um, 7 Day usually charges 25% more than the recommended retail price??

    * zack: Just wondered, how have you got on with the camera's video facility? I know it's not intended as a camcorder replacement but in practice we've found that we use our Konica Minolta (which has a video facility identical to the Fuji's) quite a lot on holiday.

We had thought that 15 minutes' max shooting time was not going to suit us but surprise, surprise, it's proved just fine -- we have three 1Gb cards and the most 'footage' we've brought back is 25 minutes video, edited on the spot by deleting stuff that seemed a good idea at the time but on viewing at night wasn't worth keeping.

As to the Fuji's strengths, it may not be a £1,000 digital SLR but a guy we met on holiday had a two year old Canon he'd originally paid £1,250 for and he told us he'd "messed up" that day by changing lenses and somehow had got dust or dirt inside on the sensor. It made me think that the higher the price, the higher the picture quality -- but the higher the maintenance!

we reserved one at argos, printed the email. bought it in our local currys they are happy to pricematch if you show the reservation. so if the only argos that has stock is miles away.... use this method. ;)

Don't forget, you can extend the guarantee from Argos to 3 years for £19.99 - this also includes accidental damage - you can't go wrong.
