Feeling extra pleased with myself after a productive weekend in the kitchen but have had 10 bargin priced pork chops lurking in my freezer for a while now & can't seem to use them. The problem is neither of us like pork very much & hubby won't eat any meat on a bone. Based on this, anyone got any bright ideas on what I can turn them into, suitably dressed up with other flavours? Ideally I'd like somethign I can cook up over the long Easter weekend then bung back in the freezer for week nights etc.
Cheers
PS : can't imagine what posessed me to buy them in the first place, guess I am a sucker for those "reduced" stickers!

A nice curry would disguise the pork flavour Lillibet.Mink0

sauce made from a tablespoon of peanut butter, juice of a lemon, and a red chilli if chilli is your thing
or...cut into small pieces and deep fry first chinese style, then add to sauce (sweet and sour, curry)
grill one side then turn over and top with one of the following:
wholegrain mustard
apple sauce and cheese
honey
breadcrumbs, olive oil and herbs
then grill again
put in the slow cooker with my fave standby a tin of tomatoes, an onion, garlic, herbs and a stock cube.
Im sure amongst these at least one of them will help you like to eat pork;)Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

I don't like pork much either but DH does. I have discovered that it tastes so much better done in the slow cooker, so you could try that. I used to have mine swimming in HM apple sauce so I could hardly taste it.
Failing that try slicing it really thinly, coating in 2 tsp hot chilli powder, 2tsp cumin, 1tsp oregano and fry in a little oil then serving in tortillas with loads of salsa (all that chilli you probably won't notice the pork)
Chop it really small and put it in a pie of some sort with loads of veggies and a mustard sauce (cream, white wine, mustard and black pepper). Again, the flavor of the mustard sauce should disguise the pork.
Could you mince it somehow? then you could use it in bolognese or chilli or anything else you use mince for.

You could dice meat, add some peppers and onions and turn them into kebabs?Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

Oh Kebabs sound nice but I don't think I could freeze these could I? Maybe for a weekend but not a week night meal.
Thanks for the suggestions, I fancy the Tortilla idea but again couldn't freeze?
Unfortuantely Hubby will not eat tomatoes to save his life so anythign in a tomato sauce is out, & I cannot have peanuts & have gone off curry since getting pregnant.
Pelase keep the ideas comming!Post Natal Depression is the worst part of giving birth:p

You can freeze kebabs, you just need to cook them from frozen and keep the onion in fairly large chunks.
You could also dice the meat and put it into a risotto.
You could cut the bone away, partially cook the chops under the grill and then place on a piece of foil, top with mushrooms and a slice of cheese, seal the foil over the top (like a little parcel) and cook in the oven on a medium heat for about 20 mins.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

I'm not a big fan of pork either, but this tastes nice and not of pork
Chop all the meat off the chops and cut into bite-size chunks. Brown the meat off and bung in a casserole (or slow cooker, I'd presume)
Chop up as many onions as you see fit (I do one per serving, but I like onion) and fry off until nice and golden. Add to casserole.
Deglaze pan by sloshing in half a bottle of white wine over the heat and add to casserole.
Add a can of rinsed flagelot beans (about one can per 4 servings is right, more to make it go further) to casserole
Add chopped up root veg to taste to casserole
add enough stock to cover the veg and so on and bung in the oven for about 2hours (or longer if you like)
really really yummee with baked potatos.Pre O/S: what's a vitamin? Does it begin with the letter e?Now: I'm not eating any of that pre-made rubbish...0 -
I often buy a big pork rolled pork joint. I cut it in half and slow roast it as OH likes that. Then I cut the rest into cubes, brown in the pressure cooker. Add onions, peppers, mushrooms (or any other veg) and cook a little. Then I add stock (water + cube) and about 1tbsn Worcester sauce and vinegar. Pressure cook for about 20 mins. Mix a tablespn cornflour with a little water and stir in to thicken. Add pineapple if you have some handy.Love living in a village in the country side0
