We have just had our supper, thick pork chops......I cook mine on Reg 5 on a grid in the gas oven for just over an hour, you need to make sure they arre cooked right through, if in doubt give them a few minutes longer........you can do your roasties at the same time........

While you grill the pork....Saute some slice onion in butter, add some mushrooms and crushed garlic. Remove from pan, add 1 tbsp butter, 1tbsp plain flour and mix to a paste. Gradually add some white wine or dry cider to make a sauce. Chuck the onions/mushrooms/garlic back in. Season well.
Serve with salad or jacket pots and veggies of choice.

Bake in oven for 10 mins. Turn chops over. Mix grated cheese, few spoonfuls of milk and spoonful of wholegrain mustard and spread over top of chops. Bake in oven for another 10 mins.

    Serve with potatoes and veg

(the original dish is to slice potatoes drizzle with oil and bake till brown, then lay the chops on top for 10 mins then spread the mix on top and bake some more) Lovely cheesy potatoes that way all yummy.

i quite fancy doing the one with the potatoes, how long will it take to bake the potatoes? and wont i have to add a glaze over them to stop them being dry? or have i got the wrong idea?

Grill them on one side then lightly on the other, add pureed apples, a pinch of nutmeg or cinammon and top with grated cheese and a twist of black pepper and put under the grill to melt the cheese. Serve with rice.

Or soak in coca-cola (trust me this works) overnight, then grill as normal and serve with mash.

I think it took about 20 mins + to cook the potatoes, You just slice them, layer them in oven proof dish, drizzle olive oil over (not too much) and then bake till they start to brown. Then put the chops directly on top of the spuds. Cook for 10 more mins. Then put the cheesy mustard mix over the top of the whole thing and cook for 5-10 more mins (check the chops are fully cooked).

The cheese melts down into the potatoes so they are all roasted, cheesy and squidgy. And some of it is still over the chops. Lovely but does take a bit of time to do. ;) So will probably take too long for you today.

Its a Good Food book recipe called Cheesy chops and chips.
